Role Overview:

The Operations Manager is a key member of the local Management Team and is primarily responsible for the development and delivery of the operational strategy of the business and ensuring its alignment to the Business Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and improve operational performance in line with agreed KPI's, like safety (LTA / first aid incidents / SAFERs), on time delivery, arrears, productivity, stock turns and product quality

  • Ensure that the strategy is embedded in the Operations function - to drive lean deployment across the site

  • Leads Operations on its LEAN journey through practice, training, facilitation, and support. Drives continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, and quality

  • Develop the Operations team through clarity on performance, expectations, objectives, priorities, development, and improvement opportunities

  • Own and execute the Operations capital expenditure process in line with the budget and align the manufacturing strategy to become a world class factory utilizing advanced manufacturing techniques for improved quality, throughput, and cost reduction

  • Manage factory capacities to meet current and future customer requirements as well as future growth

  • Exhibit strong authentic leadership of the Operations team, driving a proactive culture and improve performance

  • Participate effectively in cross functional New Product Development activities

  • Develop a best-in-class Operations talent pool

  • Management of cost centre budgets for production

  • Remain flexible and assist with all reasonable tasks as a key member of the management team

  • Promote and comply at all times with company policies and procedures

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Degree in Manufacturing or Engineering with background in manufacturing processes, MBA desirable.

  • 8-10 years of experience, including five years Production. Degree calibre individual with significant operations leadership experience within an engineering / manufacturing environment

  • Lean / Continuous Improvement experience; experienced in leading / facilitating kaizen improvements focused on improving KPI performance and embedding the culture within a business

  • Proven experience in driving HS+E improvements and Quality performance

  • Proven data analysis skills

  • 5 years of direct experience in supervising and strong leadership skills

  • Effective communication at all levels within and outside the business; verbal written and presentation skills

  • Significant people management skills including influencing and communication skills
