Operations Manager

Job Description:

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the Branch. Accountable for the production cycle times, raw material inventory, analyzing and tracking operational objectives, maintain labor and expense targets, delivery schedules, and supervising hourly staff. Also responsible for ensuring that the Branch is following O.S.H.A. and D.O.T regulations and when appropriate providing training. Other duties as assigned.


  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) when dealing with customers, vendors, management, and team members

  • Minimum 2-5 years in wholesale roofing supplies environment in middle management position

  • Experience in Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively staff, manage, and motivate personnel

  • Customer Service mentality with experience in conflict resolution

  • Ability to operate a PC & related software

  • Highly organized and efficient at prioritizing workload

  • Must be able to pass a company required drug test; employees are subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S.



  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in business related field

Ensures the store is a safe workplace and provided a safe shopping experience, while maximizing company profitability by managing the store operations.</p><p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES</p><ul><li><p>Operations</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated ability to read and review a profit and loss statement to identify areas of improvement</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated ability to utilize computer and point of sale systems to maintain accurate inventory and manage the cycle count process</p></li><li><p>Maintain inventory integrity by supervising the cycle count and inventory counting processes</p></li><li><p>Assist the General Manager in handling store level human resources or loss prevention issues as necessary</p></li><li><p>Supervise the cashing handling practices and ensure necessary communications to the corporate finance department</p></li><li><p>Coordinate facility management to guarantee the safety and security of customers and employees</p></li><li><p>Assist the General Manager in staying within budget with respect to controllable expenses and drive profitability</p></li><li><p>Ensure brand standards and operating standards meet or exceed expectations to support brand consistency</p></li><li><p>Ensure store presentation standards are achieved and maintained</p></li></ul><p>Customer Service</p><ul><li><p>Assist the General Manager in supporting, modeling, and enhancing seamless customer service focus by creating an environment that is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and quick for customers and co-workers</p></li><li><p>Engage customer focus during the pick-up and check-out process</p></li><li><p>Handle claims and other KCM/MOD duties as needed</p></li><li><p>Ensure maximum scheduling coverage especially during peak traffic periods</p></li><li><p>Interface with corporate headquarters employees</p></li></ul><p>Administrative</p><ul><li><p>Record-keeping and reporting of inventory, HR related matters and cash office records</p></li><li><p>Ensure web orders are shipped out including samples (e-commerce)</p></li><li><p>Manage checkbook for P&amp;L and assist the CEM with operational budget/spending and adherence</p></li><li><p>Assist the stales team with resets, displays and display credits (merchandising)</p></li><li><p>Administer W/C matters and associated claims and maintains OSHA logs in coordination with the Store Support Center</p></li></ul><p>Warehouse/Logistics</p><ul><li>Direct/supervise truck appointments, communicate scheduling and manage scheduling issues (logistics)</li><li>Assist with customer pick-ups, auditing storage and maintaining pre-sales/FDX</li><li>Involved in sales reset in accordance with warehouse team (pack-out/overnight)</li></ul><p>Management</p><ul><li><p>Review and assess the performance of associates on a timely basis</p></li><li><p>Train, develop, supervise and define workload associates</p></li><li><p>Ensure store adheres to COP/SOPs</p></li><li><p>Manage direct reports to ensure performance</p></li><li><p>Monitor associate retention and career development; communicate ideas to General Manager</p></li><li><p>Address and document unsatisfactory performance and policy violations of associates through administration of disciplinary action and performance counseling</p></li><li><p>Ensure compliance to scheduling, hiring, payroll and business planning processes</p></li><li><p>Monitor, maintain and follow company policies; support company expectations and systems</p></li><li><p>Available to open and/or close the store in an effective manner</p></li><li><p>Perform additional managerial duties as necessary</p></li></ul><p>MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS</p><ul><li><p>3-5 years retail management experience and proven ability direct operations</p></li><li><p>Ability to perform in a high volume, highly complex location</p></li><li><p>Ability to demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated proficiency in recruiting, hiring, and training associates</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills</p></li><li><p>Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment in managing a fast-paced environment adapting to change with a sense of urgency</p></li><li><p>Must possess excellent customer service skills and work well under pressure</p></li></ul><p>WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)</p><ul><li><p>Occasional travel may be required including air and car travel</p></li><li><p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.
