Hotel Operations Manager Position Overview: We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Operations Manager to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of two properties in Comfort, Texas, The Meyer Hotel and Camp Comfort.
This role focuses heavily on housekeeping and facility maintenance, ensuring the property is well-maintained, clean, and operating efficiently. The ideal candidate will take a hands-on approach, often working directly with staff and performing tasks alongside them to ensure that all standards of cleanliness, guest comfort, and facility upkeep are consistently met. Key Responsibilities:
Housekeeping Oversight and Involvement: Manage the housekeeping team, ensuring guest rooms, common areas, and hotel grounds are consistently clean and well-maintained. Inspect rooms and public spaces regularly to ensure cleanliness standards are met or exceeded.
Assist the housekeeping team when necessary, including hands-on cleaning duties during busy periods or in the event of staffing shortages. Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and linens, ensuring that stock levels are sufficient and orders are placed on time. Develop cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure a thorough and systematic cleaning process.
Maintenance and Facility Management: Oversee all maintenance activities, ensuring the hotel property, equipment, and facilities are in good working order. Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) or coordinate with external contractors when needed.
Conduct routine inspections of the property, identifying any issues related to wear and tear, safety hazards, or required upgrades. Ensure that hotel grounds, including outdoor areas, are clean, tidy, and well-maintained. Develop a preventive maintenance plan to minimize unexpected breakdowns and repair needs.
Guest Satisfaction and Service: Engage with guests to ensure their needs are met, promptly addressing any issues or requests. Respond to guest complaints or maintenance requests, personally attending to issues if necessary to ensure quick resolution.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead by example with a hands-on approach, working alongside housekeeping and maintenance staff when needed. Train and mentor team members in both housekeeping and maintenance best practices, ensuring high standards of performance.
Create staff schedules that meet operational demands while staying within budget. Encourage a culture of teamwork, accountability, and attention to detail among staff members. Budget and Inventory Control:
Monitor operational expenses related to housekeeping and maintenance, ensuring spending aligns with the hotel’s budget. Optimize costs by ensuring efficient use of cleaning supplies, utilities, and materials, without compromising quality. Manage supplier relationships and negotiate cost-effective agreements for maintenance supplies and services.
Health, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure all housekeeping and maintenance practices are in line with health and safety regulations. Qualifications: Proven experience in hotel or hospitality management with a strong emphasis on housekeeping and maintenance.
Strong hands-on skills in facility management, with the ability to perform minor repairs. Ability to lead and inspire a small team through a hands-on approach. Knowledge of housekeeping best practices, cleaning techniques, and health and safety standards.
Experience in budgeting, inventory management, and cost control. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and step in to perform tasks as needed.
Preferred Experience: Experience managing operations in a small or boutique hotel, especially in rural or remote locations. Experience performing minor maintenance tasks (landscaping, electrical, plumbing, HVAC) is highly preferred.
Familiarity with rural property challenges, including limited resources and the need for self-sufficiency. Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience. Onsite housing is available for the right candidate.
