Newcut by Fathom is a photochemical machining company who uses a variety of chemicals, primarily acids, to etch thin metals into parts made to customer specifications. Newcut is a progressive, growing company that opened a new facility, with new equipment at the beginning of 2018.

Operations Manager Position Overview:

The Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership for Newcut by Fathom in planning, direction and supervision of all scheduling, production, inventory and delivery activities. The Operations Manager provides ongoing support and expertise to all reporting staff and assists those key people in achieving goals, objectives and adherence to Company policies and procedures.

Operations Manager Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Plans and supervises execution of daily activities in assigned areas and assures leadership coverage. Assigns and delegates tasks. Monitors schedule performance and develops and implements corrective action.

  • Assures the product service of the assigned area meets all applicable quality requirements (i.e. engineering, project specific, product and industry standards).

  • Ensure equipment is well maintained and all safety standards are adhered to

  • Identifies opportunities for process and quality improvement and works with the GM and President to set and implement policies and procedures. Evaluates employee performance and opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensures assigned staff are qualified and appropriately trained for assigned work. Create and maintain training plans and records. Assures that appropriate training programs are in place and yielding required results.

Operations Manager Essential Duties and Requirements:

  • Coordinate and manage subordinates, facilitate interdepartmental communication and allocate tasks and resources as needed

  • Collaborate with internal (manufacturing, sourcing, customer service, sales, human resources and finance) and external customers as needed to meet business objectives

  • Maintain control of all projects as they move through each process and ensure that projects are complete by their due date

  • Ensure cross functional development and assist in the consolidation and integration of engineering functions

  • Provide meaningful reporting to the Senior Leadership in a timely and effective manner

  • Manage day-to-day operations in purchasing, product and vendor management, receiving, warehousing, stock and shipping operations as well as carrier management

  • Communicate customer issues with operation team, devise ways to improve the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints

  • Promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale

  • Establish plan and strategies to support long range goals

  • Set and report on metrics to operations and management team to include scheduling, on time delivery, defect analysis and overtime

  • Ensure consistent execution of processes, procedures, and policies

Operations Manager Key Working Relationships:

  • Management, daily as necessary, for policy, direction, review and compliance

  • Customers, as necessary, for needs, confirmation, relations and issue resolution

  • Sales, daily, for orders, scheduling, due dates, problems and issues

Operations Manager Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Must have 5 years of Operations Management and or degree or significant industry experience

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Problem solving skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs. on occasion

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
