Job Summary

Job Summary:As an EVS Programs Manager, you are responsible for assisting in directing and overseeing various programs of the EVS department including, but not limited to; Quality assurance, High Profile Cleaning, Patient Experience, and UV-C Disinfecting. Under direction of the Assistant Director of EVS You will insure continual compliance with these programs, and provide guidance to the front line EVS staff when noncompliance is evident. The EVS Programs Manager works closely with the EVS Operations Manager to ensure daily operations of the department are running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

Provides direct leadership and guidance to staff to ensure that high level of cleanliness, quality and service is achieved and maintained.

  • Conducts regular inspections of the facility and makes recommendations to the staff and department leadership on areas for improvement and compliance.

  • Directs and oversees the Surfacide UV-C disinfecting program in coordination with the UHS Infection Prevention and Control department.

  • Monitors and prepares reports on the Surfacide UV-C data.

  • Provides staff training, in conjunction with the EVS Training Lead for the UV-C equipment.

  • Communicates daily with front line staff to insure compliance with daily room cleaning expectations.

  • Conducts Employee Observations, Quality Inspections, and Customer Rounds daily to meet assigned quotas.

  • Identify through interviews, discussions or observations opportunities to improve inpatient experience.

  • Insures adherence to patient scripting, ques of clean, and high profile cleaning programs.

  • Assists in the daily operations of the department

  • Coaching hourly employees.

  • Attend and participate in departmental staff meetings on a scheduled basis.

  • Provide and monitor individual guidance and motivation to associates to enable each one to perform to her/her fullest potential.

  • Discipline associates when necessary according to progressive disciplinary guidelines; monitor associates attendance and take proactive action when patterns of absenteeism are observed.

  • Participates in and sometimes conducts (under Assistance Director guidance) performance evaluations of staff and makes recommendations as needed.

  • Ensure high quality percentage of cleanliness is maintained in areas of assigment. Perform quality assurance inspections as assigned.

  • Identify through interviews, discussions or observations opportunities to improve inpatient experience.

  • Educates patients on services provided by Environmental Services; probes for concerns, needs, and impressions of service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HS diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience; 4 year degree preferred

  • 2-3 years in-servicing experience in customer service training, Hospitality and healthcare experience preferred

  • 3-4 years' experience in service-oriented operations, Good coaching and on the job training skills required

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task essential

  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

All duties are performed in a timely manner according to the departmental policies and procedures, New York State Department of Health Regulations, CDC Blood and Body Fluids Procedures and Infection Control policies. The position also requires the supervisor to perform the duties and functions of a technologist and assist in the flow of the phlebotomy area.</p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>E</strong><strong>x</strong><strong>perience</strong><strong>:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Previous laboratory Management Experience preferred.</li> <li>A minimum of six years relevant work experience to meet NYS personnel guidelines to function as a supervisor.</li> <li> Education: </li> <li>Bachelor's Degree in laboratory sciences or equivalent (Grandfathered NYS licensed CLT)</li> <li> Licenses / Certifications: </li> <li>Valid <strong>New </strong>York State Department of Health license as a laboratory technologist required. National registration preferred (NCA/ASCP).</li> </ul> <p><br></p><p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong> </p><ul> <li>Organizes, plans, and directs operational processes, staff scheduling, payroll, workflow, human resource issues, and staff development; oversees the performance and quality improvement initiatives for areas of responsibility.</li> <li>Oversees the operations of the laboratory department.
