Job Description

The Operations Manager, who works under the direction of the Site Director, is responsible for planning and coordination of all plant operations involving production, safety, engineering, planning, continuous improvement and quality in manufacturing medical device products and maintaining the high standards set forth by Cardinal Health and the Federal Drug Administration.

Accountabilities:

  • Monitor operations for conformance to financial objectives; adjust accordingly when needed.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with plant labor force to prevent or resolve problems and maintain a union-free workplace.

  • Provide clear expectations, training and support to department.

  • Maintain a high level accountability to self and department to achieve on time, on budget, and high quality work.

  • Partner with Engineering to ensure manufacturing efficiency and cost reduction through optimum utilization of resources and ongoing evaluation and improvement of methods and systems.

  • Direct work priorities and timelines and allocate resources to assure overall goals and timelines are met.

  • Develop direct reports, coach, mentor, and handle performance reviews.

  • Ensure compliance with all Cardinal Health and Federal safety requirements for the production area and personnel.

  • Partner with quality leadership to ensure good quality and cGMP practices and their implementation in manufacturing.

  • Ensure that the manufacturing organization fulfills cGMP and procedural requirements.

  • Prepare and review department budgets and lead cost and efficiency improvement efforts with production as well as across the site as appropriate.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement philosophy and practices including but not limited to COS (Cell Operating System), Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, SMED, 6S, and OEE throughout the factory.

  • Keep abreast of industry best practices and market changes.

  • Drive manufacturing strategy and ensure it is aligned with overall plant strategy.

  • Partner with other plant leaders and collaborate to find the best possible solution and best practices. Lead, coach and train employees toward team concepts and foster environment for empowered, high-performance department.

  • Identify and implement career development plans for staff.

  • Review and oversee department expansion and capacity and fill in as plant manager as needed.

  • Immediately report hazardous conditions or environmental risks to your supervisor in order for the supervisor to ensure appropriate corrective action is implemented

  • Immediately report any job-related injury or illness to your supervisor, plant nurse, EHS department, HR or any member of management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Engineering or a related field required

  • 3-5 years experience, 3+ supervisory/management skills preferred

  • Knowledge in manufacturing (Lean six sigma)

  • Medical Device experience highly preferred

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Responsible for providing direction and leadership to fulfillment and contractors while maintaining system integrity and overseeing operations of installations, service and maintenance. Supervises fulfillment resources and/or contract labor relationships. Coordinate and collaborate with Construction, Dispatch, Warehouse, Engineering and Care operations to ensure optimal customer experience. Coordinate and communicate with field operations management on process and procedural improvement opportunities. Provide reports to field operations management on activity and results. Responsible for the hiring, training, development and performance management of staff. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience Manages all technical operations at the system level to maintain the integrity of the network and assures quality and consistency of voice, video, and data to customers Provide oversight of contract labor management, including adherence to scope of work and quality standards Proactively plan for, secure, and deploy contractor resources to meet business demands Provides technical support and direction to staff and contractors regarding new or existing technologies, operational standards, and staff development Responsible for purchasing, budgeting, business plan development, deployment of new products, and capital projects. Provides quality assurance support and direction to field staff and contractors regarding new or existing technologies, company Technical Quality Assurance (TQA) Program standards Assists in the coordination, preparation and maintenance of the capital and operating budgets Monitors current procedures and tests performed in accordance with FCC standards to ensure compliance Ensures quality control checks are completed satisfactorily; resolves escalated customer problems as necessary. Provides recommended areas for improvement within the drop network to field operations management.
