Job Overview

The Manager of Project Management is responsible for all overall project management aspects of the Bastian Solutions Westfield Manufacturing Site The Manager of Project Management will manage a growing team of project managers, project coordinators and manufacturing engineers.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager of people and have experienced in the material handling industry, warehouse management mechanical engineering, and have direct experience and expertise with many of the technical specialties used in our projects. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be a strong, growing leader with a passion for process improvement and mentorship.

Job Functions

• Lead and monitor performance of Solution Delivery project teams to ensure that the clients' needs are met on time with maximum productivity and efficiency.

• Be a champion for safety and quality initiatives for Solution Delivery.

• Provide appropriate guidance and coaching to project management team leads, with varying levels of experience and skill sets.

• Work with project management team leads and other department managers to successfully overcome project and customer challenges, both technical and logistical in nature.

• Circulate critical corporate communications from Bastian Solutions leadership to the project management team.

• Drive development of annual strategic goals for the project management department.

• Guide resource planning, anticipating near and long-term staffing needs to meet project demands and balance schedules appropriately.

• Assist the director in the annual budget preparation for the project management team.

• Lead profit/loss reporting at a department level and project level forecasting in partnership with finance.

• Lead and manage the project management team, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, evaluating, and setting priorities. Provide instruction on complex techniques and direction on projects. Evaluate the effectiveness of the organizational structure and programs to ensure success, development of employees, and appropriate use of resources.

• Identify, clarify, and resolve project management and finance issues; often serve as a managerial escalation point for problems from customers and other departments.

• Work jointly with sales to effectively transition sale opportunities to execution. Provide support to the sales/estimating team appropriately.

• Continually Kaizen internal and external processes (automation, policies, procedures, etc.)

• Consistent communications with appropriate cross functional stakeholders.

• Foster good working relationships with other Bastian business area leaders.

• Maintains strong customer relationships (the strength of a distributor / systems integrator).

• Manage manufacturing engineering for Assembly, Material Handling and Fabrication.

• Support manufacturing engineering for NPD to Manufacturing transition to production

Travel Requirements

• 10% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications

• Undergraduate Engineering or Operations Management Degree with 7+ years practical management experience.

• Master's Degree is not required but preferred.

• PMP Certification is not required but preferred.

• Accomplished manager with demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding goals.

• Proven history of leading profitable and growing operating units with high customer satisfaction

• Previous Project Execution Functional Area Leader > 30 employees

• Proven track record of delivery.

• Strong computer skills with MS Office, PowerPoint, MS Project, and MS Dynamics AX.

• OSHA 10 certification

• Process driven personality.
