The Warehouse Operations Manager will manages people, equipment, work processes and resources to meet production requirements and improves productivity and capacity through effective leadership of the family. Serves as the point person for their shift for coordination and communication of activities with Process Managers on any shift in any job family as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Participates, collaborates, and coaches Process Leads in the interview and selection process for their respective job family to build and maintain a qualified talent pool to meet Lean (process, quality, and safety) operational and strategic objectives.

  • Develops, coaches, and manages performance of Process Leads monitoring, documenting and periodically reviewing direct reports utilizing a participative review process consistent with guidelines. Collaborates with other Process Managers to develop and track Process Leads in teaming efforts required to support operational goals. Utilizes and educates his/her team in mediation process for conflict resolution and consensus building as appropriate.

  • Assists with the administration of Progression certifications for subordinates by serving as the management representative on the certification team.

  • Develops and maintains appropriate reporting mechanisms to track productivity, turnover costs, and employee readiness to meet operational requirements. Educates Process Leads and communicates progress to create and maintain awareness between daily performance and operational goals. Reports operational metrics and other departmental trends and activities to the Production Director and VP of Manufacturing

  • Manages problem-solving related to complex equipment or process issues for his/her respective area, involves other Process Managers related to issues that affect other shifts or other process areas. Holds meetings with direct reports to share knowledge and support continuous learning for Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) changes resulting from these activities.

  • Participates in annual budgeting process and manages their budget throughout the year.

  • Works with other family managers to provide adequate leadership coverage for the VMC during operational hours.

  • Accomplish duties using safe work practices and equipment while being responsible for reporting all injuries and observed unsafe practices. Coaches fellow employees on safe work practices as appropriate and contributes to the overall success of the company's safety program.

  • Performs related work and additional duties as needed or required.

Education/Experience:

Five to seven years' experience in a leadership role in manufacturing/plant management.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Work in a team environment

  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Intermediate computer and office application skills

  • Ability to effectively coach and train others and lead a high performing team

  • Ability to distinguish a full range of color

  • Familiar with SAP and shop floor applications

  • Valid driver's license required

  • Lean tools and methodologies

The Press System functions include platemaking (prepress), main press, signature creation and delivery to buffer. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs and teaches others to diagnose and repair routine equipment issues and instill the importance of preventative maintenance and running equipment to specification. Maintains a thorough understanding of the process and elevates non-routine system issues upward when appropriate. Actively participates in problem resolution and repair with guidance. Provides back-up support to the Sr. Process Technician accountable for the press when required without interruption to the process. Provides verbal and written communication to Sr. Process Technician with regard to equipment, process, maintenance, quality, staff or other operational issues. Coaches the cell and demonstrates behavior that sets the example within the cell/team regarding continuous process improvement, safety, and housekeeping. Encourages collaboration within team as well as individual accountability. Encourages collaboration within the group that creates ownership and pride in the delivery of error free first pass quality and minimal re-work/waste. Participates in training in conjunction with the VMC "Progression" program to improve knowledge and skill related to the Process Technician position. Follows a planned program of continuous learning to complete all mandatory skill blocks. Maintains current skills required for the position, and may pursue additional learning through optional and/or limited skill blocks. Performs related work and additional duties as needed or required. Accomplishes duties using safe work practices and equipment while being responsible for reporting all injuries and observed unsafe conditions. Coaches fellow employees on safe work practices as appropriate and contributes to the overall success of the company's safety program Education/Experience: Twelve to twenty-four months experience in a printing or manufacturing environment is preferred. Heat set printing experience preferable. Requirements and Qualifications: Ability to work in a team environment Strong problem solving skills Ability to read and analyze technical documents Ability to apply basic math concepts General knowledge of Windows Office Ability to lift/move up to 40# Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to climb ladders and consistently work at varying heights Work in a noisy area using hearing protection. Hours will be determined based on needs of the respective shifts.
