Position Description

The Management Trainee will support the shop management process and assist in cost savings, customer retention, and metric-based initiatives. This requires the Management Trainee to work cross functionally across Operations, Asset Management, Sales, Quality, and Rental.

  • Bachelor's degree is required

  • Relocation within the region at the conclusion of the training program is required

  • Strong PC skills to include spreadsheet and word processing software packages required

  • 2-5 years of customer service with issues resolution experience is an asset

Responsibilities

Customer Service:

  • Responsible for the customer relationship activities by providing quality customer interface, proactive customer management, issue resolution, and customer satisfaction

  • Ensure accurate PM scheduling and follow up, breakdowns and vehicle status updates; oversee Technician work planning for efficiency, training, and flexibility

  • Coordinate with the rental department to ensure maximum utilization without compromising lease customers

  • Partner with Sales staff on customer calls for new business and increased customer satisfaction

  • Accountable for coordinating with Maintenance, Asset Management, Sales and Marketing to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Ensure policy and processes are followed to optimize running costs and maintenance overhead

  • People: Effectively develop and lead employees to increase productivity and morale

  • Support and build knowledge with the location's leadership team for future Succession Planning

  • Work Flow Management: Ensure branch productivity through effective work scheduling and planning specifically around preventative maintenance, repair campaigns, and OOS vehicles

  • Accountable for coordinating with rental counter to identify repair requirements, available substitute units and vehicle wash requirements

  • Ensure appropriate use of outside repair with vendors and customers

  • Location Management: Lead execution of parts inventory management process to include: physical inventory, parts ordering, receiving, stocking, managing purchase orders and parts invoices, and coordinating parts pick-up and delivery

  • Work closely with inventory planning team for changes to min-max levels

  • Ensure a safe and productive operation through proper implementation and administration of company policies and procedures

  • Review, analyze, and proactively develop steps to attain maintenance metrics

  • Create and execute action plans for continuous improvement to align with quality objectives

  • Financial Management: Financial reporting and cost control related to maintenance and asset management

  • Understand financial statements in order to create action plans to manage running costs and overheads

Job Description KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Knowledge of service point locations for all light equipment for all City vehicles. * Knowledge in specifications of all fluids used on automobiles, wheel, and tire applications for all City units. * Knowledge of battery specifications for all City vehicles. * Knowledge of cautions and warnings, for example staying away from electric fans, radiator caps, and hot engines. * Ability to read and follow manufactures guidelines and maintenance schedule. * Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills. * Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor. * Ability to give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff. * Ability to perform strenuous and routine work. * Ability to maintain a valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record. * Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees and respond to general public complaints. * Ability to project a positive and professional image of the City of Laredo. * Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language. * Ability to comply with all City of Laredo's policies and procedures. * Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed inside and/or outside. Work may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions and outdoor elements, such as: excessive heat and humidity. Work may be exposed to a variety of environmental conditions, such as: solvents, dirt, grease, oils, dust, constant noise, fumes, smoke, or gases. Capable of working closely with others or alone, working with protective devices, working around moving objects or vehicles, and working around machines with moving parts and objects. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and mechanical equipment; Work requires light to heavy carrying and lifting (under 15 pounds up to 45 pounds and over), straight pulling, pulling hand over hand, simple grasping, dual simultaneous grasping, repeated bending, standing, pushing, crouching, crawling, twisting, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, walking, and reaching above shoulders. Ability to see, write, read, count, identify shade of colors, perceive depth, and hearing is needed to perform the essential functions of this job. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Greases, lubricates, and changes oil on light mechanical and non-mechanical equipment, service batteries, and other parts. * Changes, repairs, and rotates tires; checks and adjusts brakes, wiper blades, light bulbs, emergency sirens and flashers, and other mechanical parts. * Performs minor and less difficult repairs and installation work. * Adheres to City's preventative maintenance schedule; performs routine mechanical checks to prevent minor break downs and catastrophic failures. * Performs tire checks on all equipment, must be able to measure and install various tires. * Fills vehicles with gasoline and maintains log to track usage. * Maintains stock of mounted tires for use on City vehicles; responds to calls to change flat tires in the field. * Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts. * Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use. * Perform other duties as assigned.
