Operations Lead, Foundry - 1st Shift

Nidec Minster Corporation's foundry is a 100% no bake sand foundry, pouring grey and ductile iron. We specialize in industrial grade castings ranging in size up to 40,000 pounds. The foundry has an immediate opening for a First Shift Supervisor. This is a hands-on first line supervisory position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing all people and processes on the main molding floor.

  • Communicating and interacting with all personnel levels within the Foundry as well as MIC's varied customers.

  • Working knowledge of all equipment used in the creation and monitoring of high quality iron according to specified control limits.In-depth knowledge of the procedures/processes necessary to make, handle and pour all grades of iron.Interpretation and recording of the various melt samples that are necessary to assure a quality product.

  • Oversee incoming inspection of castings for adherence to our quality system.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma Ability to interpret information involving numbers, carrying out calculations, interpreting results and presenting findings.

  • Excellent leadership ability.

  • Good communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.

  • Work cooperatively with others to achieve shared objectives.

  • 3-5 year minimum experience as a Supervisor, preferred.

  • Must be self-motivated.

  • Able to work flexible hours at a short notice.

Nidec Press & Automation is currently seeking a Foundry Manufacturing Specialist at our Minster, Ohio foundry reporting to the Operations Manager, Foundry and Pattern Shop. This role will be the subject matter expert for the casting process. They provide casting design guidance to apprentice and journeyman molders and core makers. The Foundry Manufacturing Specialist will work with Quality Lead to ensure castings meet Company requirements. This is a hands-on position that will require the ability to perform any combination of the following tasks in the foundry concerned with melting metal, pouring metal into molds, removing castings from molds, dressing castings, moving foundry materials, and cleaning equipment and work areas: Moves sand, castings, flasks, or other materials about the foundry by hand, using wheelbarrow or cart, or by loading them onto a conveyor. The ideal candidate will have 10 years or more experience in a gray and ductile iron foundry as a molder / core maker. Five (5) or more years' experience in a no bake engineered casting environment. Aluminum foundry experience will not be considered. Key Accountabilities: * Provide guidance and direction to molders and core makers for all cast parts * Oversee any casting related testing or checks * Support of Purchasing and Quality in assessing supplier capability and processing * Assist in DFMEA/PFEMA activities * Maintain effective communication with managers, supervisors, engineering, and production employees. * Assist in the training of employees as it relates to castings, cast material and processing Minimum Requirements: * 10 or more years of hands on molder / casting experience in a gray and ductile iron foundry is required * 5 or more years' experience in a no bake engineered casting environment. * Broad Foundry knowledge is desirable * Practical knowledge of cast iron casting processes * Prior experience operating a forklift is preferred, but not required * Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning products * Must be able to stand for long periods of time * Prior experience training foundry employees, specifically molders and core makers * Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist high and waist to floor * Ability to walk, hear, see and have full use of both hands Desired Characteristics: * Ability to work collaboratively with Ops Leads, Quality Lead, Molders and other staff * Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel).
