VIEW JOBS 11/11/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-09T00:00 Gainsight™ is a venture-backed, fast growing tech company revolutionizing Customer Success for businesses. The Customer Success company helps businesses grow faster by reducing churn, increasing upsell, and driving customer advocacy. Gainsight provides a complete, end-to-end Customer Success solution through its services and technology. The industry-leading platform helps companies manage customers relationships effectively, track customer health and transform the way organizations orient around the customer. Gainsight is the platform of choice for many leading companies like Box, Adobe and Workday. The company has been recognized as one of the top 100 private cloud companies in the world by Forbes, one of the fastest growing private companies in America by Inc. Gainsight's CEO, Nick Mehta, has been recognized as one of the Top SaaS CEOs in America. Magazine, and as one of 20 Great Workplaces in Tech by Fortune Magazine. The company has offices in California, Phoenix, St. Louis, London and India. Job Description Gainsight is looking for a inquisitive strategist to help create and manage our 'Elements' framework. Each of the 16 Elements includes the people, process, and tools required to execute a key function of a Customer Success team (e.g., Risk Escalation, Adoption Management). So, that encompasses a wide scope of ideas and detail, which all need to be collected and boiled down to a single, 'ratified' definition of each Element. Then, each team needs to absorb each definition and adapt their workflows, so that they consistently recommend the "Element way" of executing the function. Once a quarter, we release improvements to Element definitions, so we need an individual to coordinate the development and release process cross-functionally. Those improvements are based on suggestions from our customers, prospects, and our team, so this individual will manage those feedback channels, assemble the input, and recommend specific changes to Element definitions. Further, they will produce materials that help each group integrate the released definition of each Element into its day-to-day work. Role is based in San Francisco, CA or Boston, MA. What are the 'Elements'? Elements define the responsibilities of any Customer Success team, and detail the ways they can use our products to execute those functions exceptionally. They are a guidebook for how to make a high-performing Customer Success organization. Every department of Gainsight depends on the Elements, which help them to craft market positioning and sales pitches, align on goals with customers, design and execute technical implementations, and hone our product development roadmap. Customers find that the Elements give them a credible mechanism to evaluate their own team's sophistication, a clarity of purpose and path forward, and ready-made access to the Customer Success best practices that they're hungry for. What You'll Do, Day-toDay * Act as project manager for our Elements implementation and improvement efforts, ensuring that all teams have a well-informed and honest picture of their current status, and clearly understand their next steps * Scope out Elements' areas for improvement, by gathering input on customer success best practices from teams throughout Gainsight, from shadowing customer calls, and potentially from interviewing customers directly * Design updates to each Element that respect the input you've received, while ensuring that we're producing an Element that is simple enough to be accessible to a novice customer, but nuanced enough to be valuable to an advanced customer * Socialize proposed Element improvements with management, incorporating their technical and strategic feedback to build an approved update to the definition of the Element * Create materials that help teams throughout the company understand Elements and incorporate them into their workflows What You'll Learn This position is for someone who's eager to learn, quick to ask questions, and confident to act on what they've learned. By immersing yourself in the following topics, you'll get a fast education: * Customer Success: The industry, its purpose, and the focuses and day-to-day practices of a mature, sophisticated team. * Gainsight's Technology: What products does a customer success team need, and how do those products work together? * The Gainsight Organization: What makes a fast-growing, highly collaborative, high-change software company tick? How does a team stay on-track when every month (or every week) brings something new? * Producing Minimum Value Products: We don't give ourselves the luxury of making something perfect before releasing it. You'll get used to the tactical motions of driving to the closest finish line to get a useful product out the door. * Collaboration: Get used to understanding perspectives of people with very different jobs, across departments, and up-and-down the hierarchy. Learn strategies to help them find an outcome that they agree on. What We're Looking For * BA/BS Degree * Enrolled in an MBA or other business graduate degree program in a top institution * Minimum 4-6 years relevant work experience * Experience using complex and subjective information to make strategic decisions that have effects beyond your team * Common sources of this experience are management consulting, investment banking, or business operations * Experience in a fast-paced organization, where individuals at all levels are self-motivated to make rapid progress, have the authority and responsibility to make sound decisions, and independently adapt their work to the needs of the day * Common sources of this experience are startups and software companies Job Benefits At Gainsight, we don't believe in doing things as a "means to an end." Life's too short to have anything short of a joyful work environment that we passionately believe in. We think that "work vs. life" is a false choice created by pundits, cynics and consultants. We also believe that any community (like a company) needs a ton of diversity and a very small number of things that bring us together. Here are our 5 core values * Golden Rule: We try to practice the Golden Rule ("Do unto others..." and that sort of thing) by exercising reliability, trust and giving back to each other and our community. * Success for All: We believe that success for our stakeholders—whether our teammates, clients or shareholders—comes with a sincere focus on continuous learning, selfless teaching and making a difference in each other's lives. * Child-like Joy: We aspire to experience child-like joy in our work and lives, injecting a spirit of passion, optimism and laughter into everything that we do. * Shoshin: We believe in a beginner's mind. Don't surround yourself with people like you--diversity breeds creativity. * Stay Thirsty, My Friends: We believe in a totally internally-driven strive for greatness. The solution is think more, not doing more. Why You'll Love It Here * Our Attitude: We've created a new industry from scratch, and we're on the fast track! * Our Leadership: We offer the leading tech solution for driving Customer Success. * Our ROI: Reduce customer churn, increase up-sell, and improve customer satisfaction. * Our Technology: Deep hooks, predictive analytics, and a beautiful user interface. * Our Impact: We help our customers make millions of dollars more per year. * Our Clients: Big companies like Box, Adobe, Marketo, and many others. * Our Team: Tech all-stars from Facebook, Box, and others (and top consulting firms like BCG and McKinsey!). * Our Values: They are unique - Golden Rule, Success for All, Childlike Joy, Shoshin, and Stay Thirsty, My Friends * Our Office: If you showed up one day, you might find anything from karaoke performances to mini-golf championships.
