POSITION PURPOSE:

Provides leadership and Ops expertise in cross-functional settings to deliver creative solutions for successful execution of all new menu rollouts, food and equipment tests, Marketing initiatives, and operational processes. Develops and writes training procedures, job aids, build cards, scripts and other written communications. Delivers training support for the introduction of new products, procedures, and Marketing programs. Serves as a training and information conduit between the Support Center and the Field. Leads and develops direct reports in skills that prepare them for higher leadership roles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads Operations in-restaurant new product process testing. Develops operational procedures and creates related training materials to support the tests and programs. Provides insight and leadership on how to optimize programs based on test results by listening and responding to GM/AL feedback and other broader business elements that may have program implications.

  • Manages testing process to ensure all tasks support the successful evaluation and performance of all new test products and processes. Tracks and manages flow of all tests and projects. Generates summary of test performances and operational impact on a weekly basis.

  • Leads cross functional teams throughout the tests, using sound business judgment to influence and gain consensus around key points.

  • Travels to test restaurants to assess efficacy of the tests. Coaches Operations throughout the test. Collects and analyze data, and develop recommendations, including with respect to integration of other key programs.

  • Trains Test Restaurants, Area Leaders, Company/Franchise Directors in new products/procedures during small group, hands-on training sessions.

  • Independently develops and writes training materials and job aids to support new product roll outs, procedures, and other new initiatives that are introduced system-wide designed to encourage strict compliance with standards. Develops system rollout training in different forums depending on the program including webinars, videos, etc.

  • Supports Marketing modules by working closely with Marketing, R&D, and restaurant Operations to ensure restaurants have all the needed tools, job aids, training, and information to execute the new program module.

  • Presents data recommendations from tests to key organization leaders at Company and Franchise restaurants.

  • Interacts professionally and ethically, constructively participating as a collaborative team member or leader in pursuit of common goals.

  • Other activities, duties or responsibilities that are assigned by your supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Education/Work Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required, BA/BS degree in Training, Communications, or related field preferred; 5 plus years Restaurant General Management and Training experience required; multi-unit/state QSR restaurant experience desired; and a record of success in leading, managing, coaching and developing high performance teams is a plus.

License/Certifications:

Current driver's license required as frequent weekly travel is involved.

Current ServSafe certification required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with successfully recruiting, building, and developing a team (based on current and future needs).

  • Confidence in execution of strategic initiatives.

  • Must be decisive and able to make fact-based decisions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset and skills; meticulous attention to detail

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners.

  • Ability to prioritize and plan work assignments and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines.

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret complex reports, documents, and correspondence.

  • Adept at managing and prioritizing competing time sensitive requests while working well in a team atmosphere that may be under pressure.

  • High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, customized database applications, and internet research tools.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment on matters of significance to the company.

  • Ability to work weekends and extended work schedules as needed.

  • Must be willing and able to travel locally within Southern California and to out-of-state restaurant locations, as needed by car or airplane.

The pay range identified is the hourly or salary rate El Pollo Loco expects to pay for the posted position. This range does not include any benefits or bonus opportunities that might be available for the position based on position and eligibility criteria. Individual pay will vary based on a variety of factors including years of experience, industry experience, education, geography, etc.
