Job Overview and Responsibilities

The specific duties of the Operations Engineer include but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain process metrics to assure processes are in control.

  • Take corrective action to address process deviations.

  • Provide technical leadership in the Area Improvement Team (AIT). Ensure application of six sigma and lean techniques to achieve improvements.

  • Lead execution of incremental process improvements, (capacity, yield, usage, etc.)

  • Lead execution of incremental capital improvements.

  • Completion of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), SOP/logsheet updates, Gensuite action items, other systems as necessary under Process Safety Management (PSM) guidelines.

  • Lead investigation and resolution of process safety incidents (PSI's) and quality customer complaints (CCIR's).

  • Ensure the site meets its critical objectives by completing assigned elements of the HSE, Quality and Operation Improvement plans.

  • Support advancement initiatives in the areas of Safety, Zero Defect, and Operations Improvement through utilization of a continuous improvement culture.

  • Work concurrently with cross-functional teams including Projects, Operations and R&D teams

  • Relief of superintendent during absences.

Education and Experience

BS degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.

  • 1-15 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with chemical batch processing preferred.

Read more Job Overview and Responsibilities * Report to the Process Development Group Manager within the Industrial function * Provide process engineering support for larger capital projects and introductions of new processes to Technology Solutions locations * Support current products in terms of capacity improvements, processing problems, and quality issues. * Support Capital Projects as assigned within Technology Solutions * Process engineering support * Design, build, start-up * Troubleshoot Process Product Issues within Technology Solutions * Develop technically feasible options to meet desired process outcomes * Recommend and conduct experimental/sampling plan test options * Transfer New Technologies to Operations within Technology Solutions * Interface with Research and Innovation * Recommend preferred production routes * Optimize process to meet production cost targets, determine effects of variables * Scale-up process to full scale Education and Experience Bachelor's Level Degree - Chemical Engineering Skills * Strong technical skills. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to persuade others. * Strong attention to detail. * Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems. * Proficient with computer and information technology. * Six Sigma experience desired * Travel: 0 - 25%, project dependent Solvay Pharma Willow Island WV
