Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs Desktop Engineering functions, including desktop security, patching, scripting, package deployment and system management

  • Administers desktop management application

  • Designs, builds, tests and deploys application packages utilizing packaging tools and scripting utilities

  • Monitors, researches and resolves problems and requests relating to the corporate desktop management application

  • Utilizes desktop management application to monitor software licenses and ensure compliance.

  • Provides PC support organization with assistance in utilizing full functionality of desktop management application, including asset management, remote control (via LAN, WAN and internet), profile migration, PXE, and departmental profiles

  • Provides IT management with regular reports related to deployments, asset inventory and software compliance

  • Manages desktop security

  • Administers corporate desktop anti-virus and anti-spyware application

  • Tests, validates and deploys Windows OS and application security patches, hot fixes and updates

  • Provides IT management with regular and thorough status reports on desktop security, including virus protection and patching

  • Manages desktop imaging

  • Manages corporate imaging policies and procedures

  • Creates, tests, validates, documents, updates, and maintains desktop and laptop images

  • Administers corporate imaging solution

  • Provides Tier 3 Desktop Technical Support

  • Addresses desktop-related issues requiring tier 3 support

  • Mentors and helps develop Service Desk and PC Support technicians

  • Provides guidance on the administration of Microsoft AD in relation to rights and administers desktop-related group policies

  • Provides desktop architectural guidance

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge, skills and abilities on new and emerging technologies that improve employee efficiency and effectiveness

  • Creates and maintains internal systems documentation

  • Stays current with technology through seminars, educational opportunities, trade magazines, and research

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 years' experience supporting desktop hardware and software, Microsoft operating systems and desktop applications (e.g., Office, Project, Visio)

  • Familiarity with Microsoft AD, particularly in regard to GPOs

  • Experience with System Management tools, with emphasis on OS Deployment, Application Deployment, and Patching. (SCCM, MDT, LANDesk, etc.)

  • Skilled in writing deployment scripts utilizing VB scripts and Installshield for package distribution

  • Strong familiarity with IT data security principles and experience applying security patches.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills required

  • Must be able to work as a member of a team or independently

  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible enough to quickly change priorities in a fast pace environment.

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required
