Operations Director

We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Director located in Deer Park, NY at PLX, Inc.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated and will lead the development and implementation of the company’s operational and strategic engineering and manufacturing goals. The Operations Director will lead operations/engineering, production, sales, and quality teams and the expansion of the business’ proprietary intellectual property portfolio. This role is directly responsible for meeting the financial and operational metrics for the business.

Qualifications

• Education: BS and/or MS in Engineering (PreferablyMechanical Engineer)
• Five (5) years of related experience in a high technology custom production environment is essential. Experience within optics and opto-mechanical systems, tools, and design is preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of management in operations/production/engineering is required.

Responsibilities

The Operations Director will be responsible for ensuring integrated day-to-day running of Engineering, Production, Quality, TL (Team Leaders), sales, logistics and procurement as well as the efficient and effective use of PLX ERP (Epicor, E11) system. This role will also oversee the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and initiatives within the organization.

Due to the complex and highly technical nature of the products, the Operations Director must be able to create, communicate, and implement engineering processes and procedures.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with optical tests such as interferometers, beam profilers, and metrology.
• Understanding of optical concepts such as ray aberrations, waves, diffraction, interference, Gaussian propagation, lasers, imaging, Interferometry etc.
• Manage origination, development and publication of new intellectual property and related patent filings
• Master at setting up, using, and troubleshooting ERP systems (currently working with E11 by EPICOR)
• Knowledge of BAQ, IT, Ansys, Ray Tracing and programing

Job Type: Full-time

Salary:starting at $140,000 (Compensation: will be based on experience and knowledge regarding this role.)
