Job Summary:

The Operations Director is responsible for serving as an integral member of the operations team expected to help establish, maintain, and lead a culture of excellence and safe guest experience at the Hall of Fame Village, a subsidiary of the publicly traded Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: HOFV, HOFVW).

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations, supporting them by working together to create safe and inviting environment at all HOFV properties as well as assuming command in the VP of Operations absence.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Provide superior guest service to visitors, guests, clients, vendors, and staff.

  • Lead and manage daily operations to achieve business goals, maximize service levels, and enhance profitability, driving revenue opportunities.

  • Prepare and complete event action plans, including management, coordination and production of events that meet efficiency, quality, and guest service standards.

  • Advance and communicate event information to the appropriate departments and team members both timely and accurately.

  • Ensure concerts, shows, and upcoming events have proper CAD layouts, permits, necessary rentals, and internal/external event communication sheets.

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Events, Graphic Design, Human Resources, and Partnership teams on assigned projects.

  • Oversee the operation of event set up and tear down, i.e., field, court, special events, concerts, meetings, and miscellaneous events.

  • Participate in the development and administration of the operations budget, including forecast for staffing, equipment, materials, supplies, events, and any overhead expenses.

  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

  • Assist in the creation, training, implementation, and scheduling of guest services/ushers/premium teams.

  • Assist in event and campus related procurement initiatives and review associated invoices for approval.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with service contractors, suppliers, utility companies, and firms doing business with HOFV.

  • Respond in a timely manner to calls, texts, inquiries, and emails.

  • Provide leadership to the venue's operational teams, in support of company objectives, culture, vision, and standards of excellence.

  • Oversee the Campus Manager on Duty and related staff.

  • Supervision of assigned staff, assuming day-to-day responsibilities for personnel related matters that include but are not limited to:

o Assist during interview process, onboard, and train new hires.

o Complete annual performance reviews for all supervised staff.

o Provide continuous feedback, supervision, and coaching to all supervised staff.

o Formal discipline supervised staff in conjunction with Human Resources.

o Create and maintain schedule, assignments, and attendance.

o Approve time clocks and make adjustments as needed.

o Respond in a timely manner to calls, texts, inquiries, and emails.

o Enforce uniform protocol.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in business, sports management, or related field.

  • Proven ability to produce budgets and proformas to maximize overall revenue.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in sports business or related field.

  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proven ability to understand and follow safety procedures and protocols.

  • Must have intermediate computer skills: Microsoft Suite and have demonstrated the ability to learn multiple new software platforms quickly.

  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance, working quickly without compromising quality.

  • Must be self-driven with a high sense of urgency, a service-oriented and reliable team player with a can-do attitude who promotes teamwork.

  • Effective time-management skills as well as the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and coordinate multiple projects at once.

  • Ability to work independently and as a flexible team player willing to do what it takes to get the duties completed in a dynamic small-office environment; adaptable and enjoys a challenge.

  • Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromised judgment and discretion regarding confidential matters while maintaining confidentiality.

Physical Requirements for Position:

  • The ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly.

  • The ability to work in various Ohio weather conditions, inside and outside.

  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain, steps, or in construction zones.

  • The ability to see and respond to hazardous situations.

  • The ability to sit, stand, squat, and walk for periods of time as required for the position.

  • Must be able to hear, see, and speak.

  • Must have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties.

  • Ability to smile and make eye contact to make a friendly impression when greeting guests, vendors, and other employees.

  • Ability to comprehend instructions and retain information.

  • Tasks involve the regular and at times sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. This typically involves some combination of balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and walking about campus with ease.

  • Must be available to work in Canton, Ohio.
