Job Description
Alabama State University, Office of the Chief of Staff, Operations and event Management, invites applications for the position of Operations Crew Leader. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Operations and Stadium Management
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the work of stagehands
Coordinate with the Assistant Director, and Crew Chief in ensuring that all furniture, equipment , stages, tents, risers and related materials required for special events are arrange in a timely manner in accordance with written specifications as well as their removal
Ensure the proper cleanliness of the Acadome at all times and particularly following scheduled events
Coordinate with the Assistant Director in determining whether additional temporary works will be needed during peak activity periods to complete set-up, strike and cleaning functions within the required time frame
Conduct regularly scheduled building inspections, and ensure that all non-utility structural features in the Acadome are being properly maintained and repaired
Ensure that an adequate amount of supplies, equipment and tools are maintained to allow stagehands to carry out their responsibilities
Provide, and promote the use safety guidelines for stagehands when performing tasks
Ensure event set-up comply with fire and safety regulations
Inspect and make minor repairs to Acadome telescopic seating
Conduct day-to-day maintenance of event equipment, such as dance floor, basketball floor, portable staging and house curtains
Inventory event equipment such as tables, chairs, desks, theatrical curtains, podiums, risers, etc., and perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School Graduate or GED, with at least one year of experience in stagehand/event set up or other related areas are required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires a flexible schedule to include working late nights, early mornings, long days, weekends and holidays. Must be able to lift/move up to 75 pounds of furniture, props, staging, staging equipment and displays on a routine basis.
