The Center for Data Sciences is a unique collaboration between the Department of Medicine at BWH (Division of Genetics), the Department of Biomedical Informatics (Harvard Medical School), and the Broad Institute. The goal of the center is to foster interdisciplinary and quantitative disease-oriented research. This individual is responsible for the overall research administration leadership and management of the Center for Data Sciences within Brigham and Women's Hospital Division of Genetics. This involves partnering with the Center Director on strategic planning and implementation, including recruiting of new BWH Center for Data Sciences faculty and staff. The incumbent is responsible for the financial, research and center management of the Center for Data Sciences and the Raychaudhuri Research Lab within the Division of Genetics.
The ideal skill set includes experience in project management, administration within a research and clinical division, operations / facilities management, superb organizational and team building skills, and a commitment to working with a group of highly motivated scientists and administrative professionals. The Division of Genetics currently has ~250 faculty and research staff members with annual research expenditures of more than $27M. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of federal, divisional and hospital policies as well as a high degree of initiative and independent judgment as well as the upmost discretion and professionalism.

Center for Data Sciences (75%)
Assists and advises Center Director on strategic planning and implementation for center initiatives. Responsible for moving the initiatives of the CDS forward.
Project management and direct oversight of the daily operations for a growing research team within the Center for Data Sciences (CDS).
Manages the CDS Director's workload, commitments, and schedule to ensure all goals and deadlines are met successfully.
Project management for scientific programtic initiatives, such as the Accelerating Medicines Partnership Consortium Systems Biology Group. Includes, but not limited to, coordination of data analysis meetings, coordination with external collaborators, documentation maintenance, action item follow up, maintenance of web based media.
Facilitate and oversee the search and recruitment process for CDS faculty and onboarding of new hires.
Manages operations for CDS including but not limited to oversight of project budgets in collaboration with the Division of Genetics and rheumatology Grant Managers and milestone reporting.
Coordinates five team leaders for internal subgroup meetings and day-to-day operations (Tuberculosis, Genomics, Rheumatology wet lab) as well as facilitating relationships with external collaborators. Responsible for the coordination of research projects including scheduling meetings, recording meeting minutes, following up on action items and other miscellaneous activities.
Initiates Institutional Review Board and Biosafety Registration submissions for protocols involving human subjects research and/or Human or non-human source materials and processes annual Continuing Reviews. Monitors study staff to ensure they are compliant with CITI certification training.
Serves as point person with the CDS labs and Research Management Contract Teams including Innovations and Research Management
Serves as single point of support for lab members on any administrative issues. Assists staff with any organizational/policy/procedure questions.
Provides administrative oversight for the research labs associated with the CDS, Facilitates the smooth operation of the PI's lab on a daily basis through efficient office management. Ensures adherence to all Division policies and procedures. Takes initiative to follow up on matters independently. Brings to the PI and Division Administrator's attention all matters that require his/her review and/or action. Keeps the PI and Division Administrator informed about issues in a timely fashion. Regularly handles confidential information.
Responsible for maintenance of the Raychaudhuri lab website on OpenScholar as well as the design and maintenance of the Center for Data sciences website.
Works as the primary liaison to CDS collaborators and vendors many of whom are international.
Monitor the ongoing process of grant pre- and post- award management including grant development, submission, review, and award notification. Assist with the assembly of NIH grant applications. Works closely with the division Grants Administrator (GA) on pre-award management for development of research proposals and budgets. Reviews incoming awards for accuracy, budget and deliverables.
Division Administrative Management (25%)
Provides general oversight of weekly payroll reporting as well as strategic input into Genetics Research in Progress meetings and seminars.
Manages the Division of Genetics internship program of 1-3 interns per year in relation with the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS)
Liaise directly with the program manager at MCPHS
Takes the lead on vetting internship applications and scheduling interviews
Creates a training plan for MCPHS interns, trains, and monitors performance
Assists with management of electronic personnel files, Division lists (Listserve/Lyris)
Manages Credentialing and Appointments for the Division of Genetics with the guidance of the Division Administrator
Provides cross coverage as needed and performs all other duties and assignments and assigned by the Division Administrator.
Removed visa processes since it is redundant with onboarding of new hires.
Rheum coordination was redundant.
Restores the oversight piece of the role, but with more clarity that this is general accountability, not day-to-day hands-on responsibility.
Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's degree in biology, health sciences or nursing preferred
2-4 years of related experience
Prior grants management experience preferred
Previous management experience preferred
Experience with managing the administrative aspects of a research project
Experience with Partners Healthcare Systems and NIH grants helpful
