The Operations Associate of Sports Performance will assist in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation and management of the performance performance services provided to SLCC student-athletes (i.e. Nutrition, Strength Training, etc.)
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Strength Coach-
This position is responsible for developing programs that enhance the strength, conditioning, and movement development of student-athletes and will work collaboratively with the Sports Medicine and Performance Nutrition staff to ensure the health, safety, and performance of student-athletes
Must be willing and able to work non-traditional schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Develop strength and conditioning programs for male and female student-athletes with review from the coaches
Supervise and coordinate strength and conditioning programs for men's and women's sports as required
Perform strength testing and evaluation as assigned
Oversee strength and conditioning programs which elicit safe and correct execution of exercise technique
Effectively communicate with athletic trainers and coaches on exercise protocol
Promote the Performance program during the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and for external constituents, as needed
Be responsible for adhering to all Department and Colleges continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings
Other duties as assigned
Nutrition-
Provide sport-specific nutrition education to teams and engage in individual nutrition counseling with student-athletes
Manage fueling stations for team sites, weight room, and centralized department sites with the help of work-study students and/or an intern
Assist in managing student interns and volunteers
Oversee product and inventory management including receiving, deliveries, and storage room organization, including Fueling Station maintenance and quality/food safety standards
Assist with Training Table meals and planning pre-competition and recovery meals
Provide counsel for proper nutrient timing and plate coaching
Facilitate departmental nutrition education, campaigns, and social media outreach
Perform body composition assessment using BodPod
Research, evaluate, and recommend appropriate nutritional supplements
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree
At least one (1) year experience in clinical, culinary, or sports nutrition
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ideal candidate has knowledge of rules and regulations of athletic governing bodies and nutritional supplements, anthropometric measurements, and food service quality and safety
Self-motivated and have ability to work independently, yet understand the collaborative and dynamic work setting of sports nutrition in collegiate athletics
Management experience, organizational and technical skill, and good attention to detail
Ability to work nights and weekends
Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 40lbs
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, including varying ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
