Job Description:

Responsible for assisting with all operational tasks within the store as delegated and assigned by the Store Manager with main focus on the front-end and sales floor operations. Also assist with the hiring, training and development of store associates as delegated by the Store Manager

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager

  • Able to perform all opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager

  • Assist the Store Manager in protecting and securing all company assets, including store cash

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures including safety guidelines

  • Maintain a professional and friendly environment with customers, subordinates and supervisors

  • Maintain all areas of the store, including the stockroom and sales floor, to company standards to include recovery

  • When the Store Manager is not on the premises, direct supervisory responsibility for all hourly Associates

  • Process all SSC Corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information

  • requests and any additional communications related to store activities as delegated by the Store Manager

  • Assist the Store Manager on the receipt and return of DSD merchandise.

  • Follow the VIP and DSD Policies and Procedures

  • Assist the Store Manager in ensuring proper staffing coverage on a daily basis

  • Assist the Store Manager in ensuring that the sales floor is sales effective on a daily basis

  • Assist in the management of cashiering activities to ensure all company cash handling practices & guidelines are followed at all times by all Associates

  • Promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays

  • Assist in the management of sales effectiveness of seasonal areas in the store

  • Coordinate appropriate signage utilized in the store

  • Assist with the receipt and return of DSD merchandise

  • Process damaged merchandise on a daily basis

  • Assist Store Manager with creation of weekly schedules

  • Assist in the management of store supplies and expense control

  • Assist with merchandising and maintaining the checkout area to maximize impulse sales

  • Ensure coolers and store-front program racks/displays are refilled daily (balloon program, sunglasses, batteries, etc.)

  • Assist with the management of the Drive Item program

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Prefer prior retail and management experience

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills

  • Ability to lift, bend and transport merchandise weighing up to 50lbs

  • Ability to work in a high energy team environment

GA Foods is hiring a High-Volume Unit Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of Unit catering/distribution operations in a management role, planning and directing activities, supervising and training staff. General Purpose of Job Monitoring of food production and inventory and ensuring food safety and sanitation. We are seeking a candidate who is skilled with problem solving and troubleshooting and who has experience with P&L responsibility is regards to quality, cost, service and people. Establishing and maintaining Customer Relationship Management with contracting Agencies and customers is a key part of being successful in this role. Essential Duties Including but not limited to: * Oversee daily food production operations * Ensure accurate recipe and portioning controls * Proper quantity and quality of meals * Hire, mentor and train direct reports * Interaction with customers * Oversee and provide support with packing, distribution, warehouse/inventory control * Perform necessary recordkeeping and other reports as required * Compile management reporting, including but not limited to month-end inventory control and reporting * Assist with route development to meet growth and efficiency models * Oversee special production runs * Ensure that food safety, sanitation guidelines, HACCP, GMP's and other compliance/regulatory requirements are maintained along with appropriate temperature controls * Ensure DOT compliance and maintain required recordkeeping * Ensure labor productivity and other standards are met * Troubleshoot customer and program issues pertaining to menu and performance, including coordination w/RD * Attend customer menu meetings and in-service * Oversee purchasing, inventory control, food service ordering and preparation, sanitation and quality assurance, food and employee safety, facilities and grounds maintenance * Monitor and manage personnel attendance, disciplinary issues, training, mentoring, performance and vacations * Other duties assigned by management * Responsible for handling food delivery problems and emergencies each serving day * Maintain costs within established budgetary guidelines * Maintain complete facility and fleet maintenance operations * Start and end times can vary according to the needs of the unit * Responsible for handling food delivery problems and emergencies from 6:00 a.m. to 12 noon local time each serving day, and available on-call as need be Degree, Certifications * Bachelor's in Culinary Arts/Food Service Management or other related degree preferred and/or equivalent combination of experience/education * Current (or can obtain, Company has program available) ServSafe Food Manager Certification * Valid AL Class D Regular Operator Driver License Preferred Skills & Experience * Proven 2+ years Food Service Supervisory experience, institutional a plus * Proven training and experience in quantity food preparation procedures, food purchasing, food service management, and food safety and sanitation * Documented training in HACCP or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) * Must possess working knowledge of the Elderly Nutrition Program (ENP) requirements and applicable Federal, State, and Local food laws and regulations * Personal Computer: MS Office, Windows, Excel; MRP/ERP systems; Bar code/RFID Technology A+; General Office Equipment * Strong Supervisory and Management Skills * Effective Verbal, Written and Oral Communication Skills * Customer Relations Management, Team Building and People Management/Development Skills * Familiar with Routing, Distribution and Warehousing * Labor and Cost Management Drug-Free Work Place / Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer GA Food Service Dothan AL
