Duties

  • Represents the Fisher House organization at community and other events. Provides tours of the Fisher House to small groups, conducts presentations to groups regarding the Fisher house mission when needed.

  • Completes basic administrative duties as needed by the Operations Assistant or Assistant Business Manager.

  • Perform general minor maintenance such as replace light bulbs, air filters, replace switch and electrical receptacle covers. Observe and report any maintenance issues to chain of command, submits work orders as directed.

  • Cleans sinks, tubs, showers and toilets according to standards. Polish fittings and fixtures. Clean mirrors and windows. Sort and wash laundry using machines or by hand as required. Empty and clean trash cans.

  • Tests mechanical equipment for serviceability after each use. Removes damaged or unusable equipment from inventory. Provides customer service to residents and provides assistance and/or direction as necessary-requested.

  • Ability to work occasional Saturdays for special events (IF REQUIRED BY MANAGEMENT).

  • A successful background investigation submission to the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) must be met no later than 30 calendar days after entry on duty or placement in the position for internal candidates.

  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability determination.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Must have experience working with the general public.

Highly Desirable:

  • At least six (6) months of experience providing customer service to facility/operational patrons, including answering questions (telephonically, in person or via email), conducting basic clerical work (filing, printing etc.).

  • At least six (6) months of experience with Housekeeping or Custodial Worker duties.

Education

Area of Consideration:

  • The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is as Silver Spring, Marylandand surrounding area within 50-mile radius; in addition to, you are considered eligible if one of the following applies: 1) you live outside of this area and are able to commute to work on a daily/as needed basis, 2) you are able to relocate yourself on your own expenses, 3) you are an involuntarily separated military member, or 4) you are a military spouse/family member relocating to this installation. Eligibility begins 30 days before the military sponsor's reporting date at the new duty location.
  • (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration).

Salary Information:

Salary is pro-rated based on a 40 hour work week.

Hourly rate is:

NF-02 $20.50ph to $22.50ph

PCS Costs

  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.

Pay-Band (NF ) Allowances and Differentials

  • This is a pay-banded position.

  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).

  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
