About this opportunity:

The Operations Area Superintendent is responsible for the equipment reliability of their area, ensuring the safe, reliable, and optimum operations of their assigned unit. This is achieved by ensuring all unit operating procedures and training manuals are up to date; attending and providing key input for all MOC and HAZOP's, leading turnaround preparations; helping develop key reliability and profitability projects; and mentoring and developing unit operators on key operational items.

What you'll do:

  • Drive reliability improvements in assigned area. Work with Reliability Team to correctly assess criticality and establish reliability strategies for each piece of key equipment.

  • Manage the Maintenance Management Work process in area. Issue Daily Operating Orders for assigned Area. Work with Optimization to provide feedback on unit constraints.

  • Support Shift Production Team to ensure continuity between shifts and support operational excellence. Maintain strong ties to the Shift Team Supervisors to keep knowledge and skills at a high level to sustain SME status.

  • Develop Turnaround work list and all related support documents needed to adequately prepare the work scope for the upcoming major turnaround. Own startup and shutdown plans for their area. Serve as Startup Team Leader for all assigned units.

  • Coordinate and support process specific training programs to help the Unit(s) run more efficiently, continually evaluating training programs for effectiveness. Provide training and development for operators.

  • Perform field visits routinely, focusing on procedural compliance, operator round and shift handover effectiveness. Coach and mentor operations team based on observations and share learnings with other team members.

  • Analyze the operations of the assigned Units to identify development opportunities. Support with Complex Manager and the Technical Group to champion and develop longer-term improvement and reliability projects.

  • Alarm management.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Chemical Engineer preferred) is an asset.
