As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk - or Independent Risk Management - provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

This role sits within the Enterprise Operational Risk, Operational Risk Foundational Programs (ORFP) function. ORFP is responsible for defining & setting the methodology and standards for the operational risk foundational components, including Risk and Control Self-Assessments, Operational Risk Events, Key Risk Indicators, Scenario Analysis, Operational Risk Capital & Stress Testing - and driving awareness over the same. ORFP is dedicated to providing direction, guidance, tools and oversight to help Front Line Business throughout the bank to effectively manage operational risk and ensure an adequate integration of loss and capital analysis in support of CCAR.

Specifically, the role reports into the Head of Ops Loss Data Management, Analysis & Reporting responsible for managing the operational risk internal and external data ('operational risk events') for the company and ensuring that processes, and controls are in line with industry best practice standards & regulatory expectations.

Operational Risk Director of Data Analysis and Reporting will be responsible to oversee the preparation of key operational risk event reports and presentations for governance committees, senior leaders and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Manage four-six employees and provide day to day oversight of work; complete performance reviews, and other managerial duties.

  • Responsible for leading the preparation and review quarterly external/regulatory reporting submissions (14Q, Schedule E) working directly with finance and data management teams.

  • Ensures that all regulatory reporting complies with established regulatory reporting policies and Operational Risk Management framework. (i.e. Y14Q enhancement research)

  • Responsible for Y14Q Change Management Requirements, Test Script Development and UAT Testing.

  • Responsible for Y14Q documentation and documentation updates/maintenance

  • Coordinates/Partner with Corporate Finance, Operation Risk functions, and the Line of Business (LOB) areas to specify General Ledger accounts to be used for operational losses.

  • Responsible to research, analyze, interpret, trend, and implement process improvement initiatives.

  • Facilitate the intake and dissemination of external operational risk losses through 3rd party utility firms such as the Operational Riskdata eXchange Association (ORX).

  • Responsible for preparing materials regulatory (OCC/FRB) requests.

  • Responsible for escalating issues to the Head of Operational Risk Events.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management
  • 7+ years of management experience

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Expertise in financial accounting requirements, with requisite financial acumen and knowledge of accounting standards (PCAOB, FASB) and how that should translate into the booking of operational losses in the company's General Ledger.

  • Experience in transformation and / or remediation of large complex operational risk functions.

  • Ability to manage a team and evolve it to a high performing team.

  • Demonstrated experience with interpreting and building processes and output to comply with complex regulatory requirements.

  • Experience providing relevant data and reporting, along with strong analytical skills and a high attention to detail & accuracy.

  • Strong project management skills. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage processes and people, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

  • Ability to drive successful execution of strategic plans; ability to plan, prioritize and set goals. Must possess a sense of urgency about exceeding the objectives of the role.

  • Knowledge of Basel Rules relating to operational risk including the current standards (i.e. Advanced Measurement Approach and the Standardized Approach).

  • Execution oriented, professional demeanor, self-starter behavior and able to recognize opportunities for improvement in the business and to act on those opportunities.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a rapidly changing, highly complex matrixed environment.

  • Excellent judgment and decision-making.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with various levels within the organization, both verbally and written.

  • Management reporting / presentation skills including the use of PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.

  • An impeccable reputation for integrity, accuracy, consistency, big picture orientation and business acumen.

  • Experience dealing with regulators.

  • Experience in data querying (e.g. SQL, etc.) and transforming into informative data visualizations (e.g. Tableau) is preferred

  • A strong track record and business knowledge in financial services.

  • A master at solving problems and driving business results.

  • Experience working horizontally across an organization and participating in enterprise-wide implementations of major policy and relevant programs across major business divisions.

  • Strong analytical and / or financial accounting skills (quantitative models experience is a plus).

  • Experience building / managing relational database management systems.

  • Strong interpersonal, influence and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with a variety of contacts, to include virtual leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in geographically dispersed environments.

  • Proven experience in building partnerships, collaborating and influencing at senior levels and across lines of business as well as with corporate partners.

Position Overview The Data Reporting Manager will be a member of the Data Management Policy & Operations team in DMI, responsible for driving strategic initiatives to develop and enhance our risk-based reporting of data governance across the Data Domain Governance team to ensure risks are identified and escalated consistently and accurately in the program execution. This role will develop executive level reporting and transform metrics to track compliance and identify risks in compliance across the 17 data domains. \ Current metrics will be automated while identifying new KRIs and KPIs. The Data Reporting Manager will manage a team of analysts and technical support employees both onshore and offshore. This role will report to the Data Domain Governance Team Lead and partner closely with Data Domain, Business Data Leader and Data Management Solutions teams in DMI to develop, socialize and implement new reporting approaches to ensure consistent compliance to the Data Management Policy and Procedures across the company's 17 data domains. The role will also partner closely with Enterprise Data Governance, Enterprise Testing and Audit organizations outside DMI to respond to requests, provide updates on our reporting progress and represent our reporting results.
