Job Title: Operational Fleet Support
Department: Fleet Department
Reports To: Fleet Manager or Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: This position is responsible for providing assistance to mechanics and supporting the Fleet Shop.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work in conjunction with Operations Manager to oversee fleet projects across 10+ company locations
Oversee launches of new fleet/fleet sites; 60% travel required
Manage skilled fleet mechanics and assist in interviewing new fleet employees
Assist in planning, organizing, reviewing and direction the operation or repair of building facilities fleet and janitorial equipment
Responsible for assisting in leading Fleet staff in problem resolution, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. Will actively participate in projects to enhance overall performance
Identify operations and fleet practices to improve efficiency/performance reduce costs and adjust operations to respond to customer concerns and suggestions
Direct activities through the fleet department to attain production goals consistent with safety, quality, delivery, housekeeping, and waste elimination. Review the root cause analysis to evaluate equipment and manpower resource requirements.
During the sales and mobilization phase, evaluate resource and staffing requirements and provide input to sales for pricing structure.
Accountable for consistent application of policy and procedures throughout 10+ company locations
Coordinates and leads activities with other functions such as operations, materials, engineering, quality, and any other departments, as necessary
Assists in establishing budgets and resource requirements for planned fleet and manufacturing projects. This includes forecasting manpower, equipment, and material needs
Comply with and support the health, safety, and environmental programs, including policies and procedures
Handling discipline and commendations as needed, within the guidelines of the union contract
Compile the Site Operating Plan (tasks, frequencies, staffing, methods, material & equipment) to comply with the contract, satisfy customer expectations and ensure worker safety and provide the site manager with hiring guidelines, participate in employment interviews, and approve the site manager's recommendations.
Confirm the site's plan for material, tools and equipment specifications, inventory levels, training, and delivery programs.
Review flat rate billing programs and coordinate invoice approval and billing procedures to expedite timely payment by customers for material items.
Drive suppliers to promote new technologies to improve performance and reduce costs resolve any major complaint or problem immediately and ensure root cause corrections are implemented.
Identify new business opportunities for projects, contract staffing, and new services and advise sales of general background on customer operations, plans, and personnel. Develop a proposal (short form) for project work and review it with sales before submitting it. Secure acceptance by the client
KEY Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and/or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Travel Demands
While based in Fort Wayne area, employees must be able to travel throughout the week to other Caravan locations across the United States.
Additional Qualifications
Strong mechanical background and experience with General Motors is a plus.
