Purpose / Role Summary

The Operational Excellence Manager will be responsible for implementing standard work, process improvements and establishing optimal layouts within our facilities.

Reporting Line

The Operational Excellence Manager will report directly to the President.

Essential Job Functions

  • Project manage and implement operational excellence program day to day

  • Hands on with all employees to drive organizational change of the process and culture

  • Work closely with personnel on the shop floor, under executive guidance, to deliver fast paced and meaningful change

  • Implement metrics to track improvements and change behaviors

  • Provide verbal and written progress reports to management and board of directors, monthly

  • Build business cases to justify capex or expense required for operational improvements and efficiency gains

  • Develop standard work across multiple product lines and business units, and implement within multiple operating facilities

  • Support integration efforts for future add-on acquisitions for performance improvement and standard work adoption

  • Integrate quality and safety across daily activities and support a culture of excellence

  • Initiate and cultivate a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization

  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

Education / Training Requirements

  • Bachelors Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor's degree with major in mechanical or industrial engineering preferred

  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training and experience preferred, ideally with formal black belt certification

  • Project management training and experience preferred

Professional Experience (Minimum and Preferred)

  • 5+ years related experience including 2+ years' experience in manufacturing and/or aftermarket operations facility preferred

Skill Sets

  • Methodical and detailed project management skill sets, utilizing tracking tools

  • Creates work plans and task definitions

  • Strong evaluation and analytical capabilities required

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required; must be able to engage and communicate effectively with shop floor personnel as well as senior leaders

  • Strong grasp of MS Office suite required

Manage all non-Newpark production of Newpark Proprietary Products (tolled products) existing and in development. This includes P&L and Quality Assurance. 2. Establish Non-Disclosure Agreements, Master Services Agreements, Contracts and Purchase Orders with Tollers to insure full control over Newpark Intellectual property and best delivered pricing. 3. Participate in Supplier Audits of Toller Sites. 4. Manage the raw material, in-process and finished product inventory at all Toller Sites. 5. Manage the on-boarding of new products as they are relocated from a Toller to a Newpark Industrial Site. 6. Develop and manage contingency plans for all tolled products. 7. Participate in Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning for Tolled Products. 8. Establish continuous improvement objectives and accountabilities for Tollers. 9. Through research and lab development lead and support upstream chemistry development to improve cost and/or performance of our existing products. This will require close collaboration with the Newpark Technology Center (NTC). SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Provide engineering support for Newpark Industrial Sites for capital improvement projects. 2. Participate in NCR investigations and corrective action development as requested. 3. Support and in some cases lead on-boarding of new products from NTC directly to Conroe. 4. Back-fill as available and needed for the Conroe Senior Plant Manager. Success Factors: Advanced Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Business preferred. 5 to 10 years of process engineering working in various oil based chemistries. Experience at different manufacturing locations Previous tolling or custom manufacturing experience is a plus. Previous Business development experience is a plus ISO and LEAN experience preferred Good risk management and decision making skills Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Proven ability to lead teams and deliver professional presentations Ability to travel up to 30% Valid US Drivers License Ability to obtain US Passport for international travel Education & Experience RequirementsBachelors Degree in Engineering or educational equivalent. 8 years experience. Advanced analytical skills. Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Thorough knowledge of principles, concepts theories, and practices of applicable discipline. Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
