Big-D Construction is looking for an Operational Excellence Manager to join the team located in Tempe, AZ.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable candidate that has business process improvement experience to join our team. This role is pivotal in enhancing our business processes within the commercial construction industry by establishing clear business objectives that deliver extraordinary value to our organization and enhance customer value. The ideal candidate will evaluate, establish, and transform our processes to improve efficiency. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of our business operations and the latest tools and technology solutions in the market, including leveraging emerging technologies including but not limited to generative AI. They must demonstrate leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate with IT, Learning and Development, project teams, and other business services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish Clear Business Objectives:
  • Define and set clear business objectives that align with our strategic goals and deliver significant value.
  • Ensure all business process changes and tool selections are driven by their ability to support these objectives.
  • Evaluate Current Processes:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing business processes across all departments.
  • Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and Implement Solutions:
  • Design and implement process improvement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Utilize the latest tools and technologies, including generative AI, to streamline operations and integrate new solutions.
  • Simplify Complex Processes:
  • Break down complex processes and concepts into simple, understandable steps for all team members.
  • Ensure that new processes and tools are user-friendly and easily adopted by staff.
  • Leverage Emerging Technologies:
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in generative AI and other advanced technologies to enhance business processes.
  • Implement AI-driven solutions to optimize workflow, data analysis, and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders:
  • Work closely with IT to ensure technological solutions align with business needs.
  • Partner with Learning and Development to ensure staff are adequately trained on new processes and technologies.
  • Coordinate with project teams and business services to integrate process improvements seamlessly.
  • Monitor and Report Progress:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilize the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) methodology to measure the success of process improvements.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on progress and impact, aligning with the OKRs set for the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in business process improvement, preferably within the commercial construction industry.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Familiarity with construction management software and tools.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and solutions in the construction industry, including generative AI.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Skill in simplifying complex concepts for broader understanding and implementation.
  • Certifications:
  • Certifications in process improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt) are a plus.
