Operations Engineer Level II
Purpose

Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees from other departments, and teammates. Ability to carry out and understand assignments, and/or convey or exchange routing information. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, technical procedures, company policies/procedures, or other program-related information. Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data for distillation into high-level reports. Ability to work in a highly technical and fast-paced detailed design and construction program environment. Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work independently, as part of a team, or lead a small team. Ability to adapt to various job assignments that stretch the job description's boundaries due to Government Shipbuilding's dynamic nature. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.
Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Facilitate communications of issues and solutions within the assigned department.
Perform QA/QC checks of peer-generated documentation.
Support the day-to-day engineering operations management
Recommend, develop and optimize operational processes and procedures for maximum efficiency while maintaining quality standards
Develop and assist with the implementation of new processes and procedures
Assist with personnel management tasks.
Support the Safety initiatives and ensure that health and safety regulations are followed
Audit engineering government department performance
Track and report on engineering operational performance
Perform other duties as instructed.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Skills:
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or other engineering discipline.
3+ years of experience as an operations engineer specialist or in a similar role.
Project experience preferred.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety.
Ability to analyze and improve operational processes.
ISO Internal Auditor certification preferred.
Strong people management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
Detail-oriented.
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Card is needed.
Desired
Intermediate level with Microsoft Windows, MS365, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to work in a demanding environment, display an attention to detail, and function as a collaborator

Reporting Relationship
This position will report to Engineering Operations Director or Engineering Operations Manager
Working Conditions
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the field office environment is low to moderate. While supporting production issues, the employee may be in a ship production environment and will wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, steel toe boots, and hearing protection as required.

This job operates in a field office environment collocated by the vessels under construction. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, and smartphones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work on the ship with production dealing with questions and issues involving engineering ship construction documents/drawings. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
