The Department of Social Services is looking for an individual to serve as Operations Specialist to provide expertise and oversight to manage facility operations, facility leases, equipment management, and liaison between the Department and other state agencies.

Working condition include a combination of a typical office environment, vehicle travel to field offices, and ability to lift 45lbs.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

A bachelors degree in facility management, business, or a related field with several years of experience is preferred.

Knowledge of:

  • the department's divisions, programs and procedures;

  • principles and concepts of building techniques and materials, HVAC, phone systems, systems furniture, and building needs;

  • business processes, cost allocation of space and equipment, assignment of budget coding;

  • Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.

Skill to:

  • communicate professionally with individuals having varying degrees of technical knowledge plan and manage projects;
  • lead office space design projects, understanding of space, furniture, building construction design;
  • resolve building maintenance and other office space conflicts between staff and landlords;
  • build collaborative relationships with various staff and other entities;
  • review invoices for appropriateness of charges, and usages.

Ability to:

  • communicate information concisely and accurately;
  • communicate with technical and non-technical staff and translate their needs, ideas or suggestions into logical solutions to business problems;
  • manage contracts for janitorial services, phone services, and snow removal;
  • manage issuance, tracking, and replacements for technology equipment (computers, cell phones, wifi, printers);
  • work independently, take initiative, and work in teams;
  • understand state policies as they related to leased space, technology standards;
  • travel through out the state working with staff and landlords in numerous local offices;
  • address interruptions of services due to power failure, phones system being down, equipment failure, water leaks, etc.
