he Operating Room Technician should have a certificate of training or past experience, but an inexperienced applicant will be considered at the discretion of the OR/PACU Director. Licensed Practical Nurses may also apply for this position.
He/she must be readily adaptable to the changing physical demands of the unit. Must possess physical health to sufficiently meet those demands, which include: (1) ability to stand on feet for a minimum for four hours; (2) ability to lift, push or pull a minimum of 4o lbs.; (3) ability to use hands for gripping, precision piecework, i.e. thread suture/needle (must be able to use both hands equally); (4) must be able to use either foot for repetitive movements necessary with some equipment; (5) must meet sensory requirements of sight and be able to both speak English and understand non-verbal communication; (6) must be neat in appearance, dependable, and cooperative and have a sincere interest in his or her job. The position requires after hours work according to a rotational call schedule. The ORT must demonstrate overall knowledge and skills of human growth and development necessary for the range of treatment and care of patients appropriate to age as required for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
