The Surgical Technician / OR Scrub Assist PRN will assist with the nursing care of the patient under the direct and indirect supervision of an OR Registered Nurse.

  • The technician functions as a sterile scrub person caring for patients undergoing surgery within the OR suite.

  • The technician may assist with duties of a circulating nurse under the immediate supervision of a circulating RN.

  • Considers age-related factors in care, treatment, education and evaluation of patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.

  • Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification:

Completion of Surgical Technician Course or equivalent required.

Surgical Technician certification REQUIRED. BLS required.

Experience:

Two years OR scrubbing experience preferred.

Most importantly, Reston Hospital Center is dedicated to enhancing the health and quality of life in our community by putting patients first The Operating Room Business Manager manages the OR Module databases of the Meditech system throughout the Perioperative Services. These databases reside on the Meditech System and are developed and maintained in compliance with IS policies. This position will also conduct case cost analysis, independent analyses, assist hospital administrators and Perioperative Leadership with requested reports and also identify and manage cost savings opportunities. Will act in coordination with the perioperative Resource Coordinator and the Supply Chain Director initiatives and projects. Will work with the OR Schedulers and act as a resource for surgery scheduling functions and applications. The Operating Room Business Manager will: * Maintains data dictionaries on OR module of the Meditech System. * Troubleshoot equipment/software - to include printers and terminals. Act as a liaison between clinical modules and nursing staff providing training and orientation to new and existing staff. * Develops and maintains the processes required to ensure an accurate scheduling, billing and inventory system. * Maintain surgical implant processes and database in compliance with regulatory bodies. * Coordinate the installation, education, and support of existing and future information systems in Perioperative Services. * Creates/revises customized user menus, work lists, NPR reports, and user directories. * Interfaces with Meditech and OR Module Customer Support. * Develops and maintains written protocols for system use. * Coordinates with SPD leadership to monitor and maintains instrument set tracking system. * Works closely with the posting schedulers to clarify posting information, insures information is correct and complete for procedures and anticipate the need for specialty equipment/instruments. * Coordinates contracted services (i.e., cell saver) as needed for specific cases. * In coordination with the Resource Coordinator and Supply Chain Director, will negotiate with vendors to achieve the best terms possible. * Works with Supply Chain Director, Resource Coordinator and Director to implement, monitor and renew OR contracts. * Reviews upcoming surgery schedules to insure all outside implant, instrument, and equipment needs for a procedure are available as requested. * Manages, analysis and assess data from a variety of reports related to OR Metrics, including but not limited to OR dashboard, Core Measures, Patient/Physician/Staff Satisfaction and any other Performance or Quality measures. * Performs special projects to meet services excellence as requested by the Director. * Prepares various statistical reports, audits of regulatory compliance, scheduling and other systems. * Makes recommendations based on data analyzed from the variety of statistical reports. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor of Science required, certification in a related specialty preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in the Operating Room. Ability to maintain a mature, professional manner and demonstrate sound judgment when dealing with vendor Representatives, OR Staff, Physicians, and Hospital Staff. HCA Reston VA
