Oversees the staff and processes of the defined surgical specialty area and is responsible for the direct clinical and operational oversight of the assigned specialties. In this capacity, the SLM will act as the liaison for the surgeons, facilitating daily case requirements and clinical quality, while managing operational needs to include appropriate staffing support, assessment/recommendations for supplies/instrumentation/capital.
Identify the essential components for successfully improving perioperative operational efficiency. Monitor room turnover and facilitate processes to achieve minimal times. Accountable for policies, procedures and work processes that ensure the provision of quality patient care.
Supervises, evaluates, guides and counsels staff on their work performance. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practice and principles, methods and techniques involved in providing nursing care, familiarity with organization and function of departments, policies, procedures and regulations and knowledge of principles of leadership and management. The Certified Nurse Operating Room Certification (CNOR) must be obtained within the year of hire.
Education
Bachelors Degree : Nursing (Required)
Other : Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Required)
Masters Degree : Nursing or Healthcare related field (Preferred)
Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience
5 Years experience in a clinical OR role with intensive focus in surgical specialty (Required)
1 Year experience in a supervisory role (Preferred)
License/Certifications
CNOR - Certified Nurse Operating Room (Preferred)
BLS - Basic Life Support (Required)
RN-LIC - PA Registered Nurse License (Required)
