About the Position: We are seeking a dedicated Operating Room Circulator RN to join our perioperative services team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in the operating room, endoscopy suite, and other perioperative areas. The RN will provide care for patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Service Excellence: Provide respectful and cooperative service to patients and colleagues; collaborate effectively across departments. Patient Care: Assess and develop individualized perioperative care plans; ensure safety and correct site for procedures. Safety and Compliance: Perform procedures to prevent injury, manage specimens, and avoid infections. Maintain patient temperature and fluid balances. Communication: Keep all relevant parties informed of patient status and involve patients and families in care decisions. Education: Educate patients and families on post-operative care, pain management, and expected recovery. Documentation and Collaboration: Document care accurately; work with other disciplines; participate in quality improvement. Leadership: Serve as charge nurse when assigned, assist with staff orientation, and fulfill after-hours call duties. What we are looking for: Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Licensure: Currently licensed as a registered nurse in Minnesota. Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS (or eligible for ACLS within one year). CNOR certification preferred. Experience: Preferred experience as an RN Circulator and familiarity with EPIC EMR. Completion of post-basic operating room course or two years of operating room experience required.   • Assess perioperative patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.

  • Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.

  • Implement the plan of care by

  • protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal sources;

  • performing accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items;

  • performing interventions necessary to ensure that the patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level;

  • managing the patient's specimens according to organizational policy and procedures;

  • communicating the patient's current status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care;

  • administering medications safely and correctly;

  • performing interventions to maintain the patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels;

  • performing interventions to maintain the status of the patient's genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels;

  • performing interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia at the conclusion of the immediate postoperative period;

  • performing interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection;

  • assessing the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person;

  • providing education regarding the expected psychosocial response, nutritional management, medication management, pain management, wound management, and expected responses to the operative or invasive procedure;

  • involving the patient or designated support person actively in decisions affecting his or her perioperative plan of care and the rehabilitation process;

  • protecting the patient's rights, dignity, and privacy;

  • providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice; and

  • providing consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting.

  • Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes.

  • Demonstrate resourcefulness in emergency situations.

  • Transfer care as applicable, following facility policy for hand-off of care.

  • Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.

  • Document nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly.

  • Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable.

  • Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.

  • Participate in the performance appraisal process.

  • Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.

  • Assumes responsibility for completing mandatory educational requirements and required competencies.

  • Assist in the orientation and mentoring of new staff.

  • Serve as charge nurse for identified shifts

  • Demonstrate and practice strict infection control interventions appropriate to surgical services.

  • Pursue professional growth and participates in a professional organization.

  • Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.

  • Carry out duties in a safe manner and use safety devices provided to protect self and others. Report safety hazards as appropriate.

  • Fit-Testing is required upon hire and annually thereafter.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; currently licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Minnesota.

  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or be eligible for ACLS certificate within one year of employment.

  • Basic computer skills.

Preferred:

  • Completion of post basic operating room course or two years current operating room experience.

  • Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification
