JOB SUMMARY:

Under the immediate supervision of the Lead Support Technician and the general direction of the Clinical Coordinator or Charge Nurse, the Support Tech provides ancillary services in the Operating Room. The three major responsibilities consist of the following: 1) ensuring the availability of well-functioning equipment for every surgical case, 2) assisting nursing personnel in room set up & turnover and in selected patient support services such as turning, lifting, and transporting patients, and 3) maintaining a safe and clean work environment in the O.R. suites and peripheral areas. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that model the SJHS core values and the hospital's mission statement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

License/Certification:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

This position works closely as a healthcare team member to assist our hospital in providing excellent care and communication to our patients. Experience: * Requires one (1) year healthcare experience. * Basic computer skills in a Windows operating environment including Microsoft Word. * Completion of Medical Terminology coursework or possess working knowledge or Medical Terminology. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: * Associate's degree in a related field. Experience: * Managed care or case management experience highly desirable. * Prior experience with MCG Care Guidelines, Touchwork, IDX, Meditech. * Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel. * Previous experience with Allscripts, Touchwork, Meditech, Enterprise and/or IDX experience highly desirable. * Bilingual English/Spanish communications skills.
