Overview

The Operating Engineer is responsible for carrying out the direction of the department director to provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all patients, parents, visitors, and employees of the hospital.

The Operator is responsible for the operation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of all fixed and non-fixed non-patient equipment, medical gas systems, and HVAC systems in the hospital.

The Operator is responsible for carrying out continuous quality improvement efforts. The Operator assists in developing new procedures, work practices, and data collection, to comply with all City, State, Federal, OSHA, NFPA, and JCAHO codes/requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively and efficiently operate and maintain all equipment and systems for which the Engineering Department is responsible.

  • Performs all work to ensure all City, State, Federal, OSHA, NFPA, and JCAHO codes and requirements are met or exceeded.

  • Effectively evaluate building needs and take steps to efficiently use energy sources to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years experience (prefer hospital experience)

  • Employees must obtain Licensed Operating Engineer Class A or equivalent within 365 days

  • Class A Operating Engineers License Required 1 Year

  • EPA Refrigerant License Required 90 Days

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $21.89, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Job Title: Operating Engineer Reports To: Chief Building Engineer Summary of Job Description: The Operating Engineer supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc. This person will have the responsibility to provide written reports/logs to the Chief Engineer and/or Property Manager to assist in the reliable and efficient operation of base building and critical environment functions. Primary Responsibilities: * Assist with the supervision and direction of contractors and monitors performance of their assigned responsibilities. Performs and/or directs the performance of assigned maintenance service requests insuring that work performed in these areas is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience * Performs building and equipment maintenance and repairs * Assist the Chief Engineer and other building team members in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment as needed * Maintain lighting system bulbs and ballasts * Minor HVAC, plumbing & electrical repairs * Moves office furniture, machinery, equipment and other materials as requested * Performs predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance, maintenance routines and equipment rounds and service requests as directed * Respond and perform emergency repairs or preventative maintenance off hours as directed on nights and weekends * Performs all duties in a safe manner, comply with all safety procedures and maintaining clean and safe work areas in accordance with established work standards and practices * Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them * Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs * Participate in the annual JLL Engineering Operations Compliance Program (OCP), working to achieve an agreed upon a passing score as determined by the General Manager * Documents work performance and materials procurement as directed, using work order system * Other assigned operational tasks as may be typically expected of the Operating Engineer role * Provide on-call response as required Qualifications * Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. * Completion of an applicable technical training program is desirable, have a minimum of one (3) years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical. * Must have ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., use ladders, possess mechanical and electrical aptitude, Windows based computers and have good communication skills in English, both oral and written. * Ability to use hand tools, power tools and other equipment required to complete job tasks * Candidate must provide own basic hand tools required to perform assigned work, while other tools and equipment are provided by the building owner * High school diploma or GED equivalent * Ability to comply with both Jones Lang LaSalle and client-directed Policies & Procedures. * Successful candidate must be self-motivated who can work independently or on a team. #LI-NL1 #ZJLL #INDIFM What you can expect from us We succeed together and believe the best inspire the best, so we invest in supporting each other, learning together and celebrating our success.
