Position Summary

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology in partnership with the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Department of Medicine (Division of Infectious Diseases and Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology), the Institute of Global Health and Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine invites applications for tenure-track/tenured appointments at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor.

The goal of this recruitment is to hire outstanding junior or established investigators studying fundamental aspects of human B cells and antibody responses implicated in the control of infectious diseases, autoimmunity, allergy, and cancer. The recruitment is linked to a complementary but separate initiative on campus to establish a core for antibody discovery and to leverage existing infrastructure for GMP manufacture and clinical trials.

Investigators with programs emphasizing both basic and translational immunology are strongly encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will have postdoctoral experience and accomplishments that support their potential to establish a vigorous and impactful extramurally funded research program.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants should hold a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Doctoral degree with at least 2-3 years of postdoctoral research experience is preferred. Related degree such as DVM in the biomedical sciences and/or related field of study can be substituted.
