We are seeking a board certified, or board eligible neurologist to join our Neuromuscular team in an open rank position. The successful candidate will join a team of faculty in providing quality patient care in the inpatient and outpatient setting at UNM Hospital. The incumbent will be involved in assessment and treatment of neuromuscular disorders in our Clinical Neuroscience Center including: carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy, radiculopathy, muscle disease, ALS, muscular dystrophy, OPMD, and myasthenia gravis. The ALS and MDA clinics are certified as Care Centers by their national organizations.

Clinical responsibilities include direct patient care in a busy outpatient clinical setting, as well as inpatient and consult attending supervision of residents, fellows and medical students and midlevel providers. Academic responsibilities include participation in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and research activities of the department. Based on qualifications leadership opportunities may be available.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree

  • Board certified/board eligible in Neurology

  • Fellowship trained in respective specialty

  • Eligible for licensure in the state of New Mexico

  • Eligible to work in the United States

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong clinical skills

  • Strong Teaching skills

  • Skills in all aspects of clinical Neurology

  • Strength of training

VIEW JOBS 3/21/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-19T00:00 UNM School of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery is actively recruiting for a Neurosurgeon with fellowship training in Endovascular Neurosurgery as well as a desire to practice general Neurosurgery. University of New Mexico is the state's only Level 1 Trauma center and Joint Commission Accredited Primary Stroke Center. The hospital is preparing to transition to Comprehensive Stroke Center status. The Opportunity Become part of a dynamic Neurosurgery team consisting of 5 well-established surgeons, one which is Endovascular trained. Additionally, we have 7 nurse practitioners, with one dedicated to the endovascular service. A 6th surgeon has been recruited, and the Department is in the midst of a national Chair search. Excellent referral base from the entire state of New Mexico, with a robust critical emergent tele neurology program (ACCESS) serving 19 hospitals across the state. Each Neurosurgeon does 200-240 cases per year. UNM Department of Neurosurgery has a case load and patient population for 8 Neurosurgeons. Endovascular call will be 1:3. The department has 11 residents. Competitive two-year guaranteed salary plus a comprehensive benefit package. The Hospital UNM Hospital is the state's only academic medical center, and is the primary teaching hospital for the university's School of Medicine. UNMH cares for a large, diverse population with complex and urgent health needs, providing more than $135 million of uncompensated care per year. UNM Hospital is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the state, and draws from a referral network that encompasses the entire state of New Mexico, as well as several border communities in neighboring states and Mexico.
