Description:

The Allergy and Immunology section of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep & Allergy at the University of Illinois Chicago/UI Health is looking for a full-time academic allergist-immunologist for a clinical position. This position is predominantly adult-focused.

The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) encompasses a 455-bed tertiary care hospital, 26 outpatient clinics, and 13 Mile Square Health Center facilities (Federally Qualified Health Centers). Duties & Responsibilities:

1.Practice clinical Allergy and Immunology through outpatient and inpatient consultation at the UI Health/University of Illinois at Chicago and the Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Hospital.

2.Teach pulmonary fellows, residents, and medical students through didactic lectures and through their clinical rotations.

3.Perform Allergy Procedures including:

a. Drug Allergy and Skin Testing Evaluations

b. Drug Desensitization

c. Oral Food Challenges

d. Drug Challenges

e. Skin testing: aeroallergens and foods

f. Delayed hypersensitivity Testing/Patch Testing

g. Allergen immunotherapy (aeroallergen, venom)

h. Biologics Administration and Monitoring

i. Prescribe specialty medications for the treatment of immunodeficiency and hereditary angioedema.

4.Work within a team to ensure high quality care to complex historically marginalized populations which may include facilitating hospital protocols and clinic workflows to improve provider, staff, and patient satisfaction.

5.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must have the following prior to start of employment:

1.Medical Doctorate (MD) or equivalent; AND

2.Completed an ACGME-accredited Allergy/Immunology Fellowship Training program; AND

3.Be Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Allergy Immunology (ABAI); AND

4.Have or be eligible for a State of Illinois physician license.

Preferred Qualifications:

1.Experience in conducting health services, clinical and/or translational research.

2.Fluency in Spanish (spoken, reading and writing)
