The following positions are available on an open, continuous basis:

  • Physician

  • Physician Assistant

  • Nurse Practitioner

  • Registered Nurse

  • Licensed Practical Nurse

  • Medical Assistant

  • Physical Therapist

  • Other Medical Positions as Warranted

The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 25 lbs. The majority of work is performed in an office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. CRNA is a smoke free and tobacco free campus. May require local travel between compact services of CRNA which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protection of client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided when and where needed.


Supervision Received:

Work will be monitored through meetings, reports, and regular communication with the immediate supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements, conditions of grant award(s), and the general policies and procedures of CRNA.

Supervision Exercised:

Depending on type of position they may or may not provide direct supervision.


Contacts include and not limited to volunteers, organizational staff, clients, and outside agencies.

  • First Aid/CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire for required positions.

  • Annual TB screens for required positions.

This position will (or may) require you to frequently (or incidentally) drive your personal vehicle for CRNA business. In order to drive your personal vehicle for CRNA business an individual must provide a copy of their current Alaska Driver's License and a copy of their proof of personal liability insurance. No employee may transport a CRNA client in a personal vehicle.

VIEW JOBS 10/9/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-07T00:00 SUMMARY This position provides general administrative support to the Elder Services Department. It also processes billing for the department. Position greets customers and visitors to CRNA both by phone and in person. JOB DUTIES * Maintain confidentiality in regards to staff, clients, files, and program matters. * Manage projects as assigned and complete projects as outlined by the supervisor in a timely manner. * Work collaboratively with team members within departments and across the organization. * Type and design general correspondence, charts, tables, etc. as necessary. Proofread copy for spelling, grammar, and layout, making appropriate changes. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy. * Coordinate meetings, events, travel, and supply replenishment as necessary. * Distribute monthly menus, monthly Elder's luncheon, transportation schedule, and elder related media. * Track all data for Elders meal program and chore program. * Conduct research, collect data, and prepare reports and corresponding documentation. * Enter information necessary for insurance claims, such as patient, insurance ID, diagnosis and treatment codes and modifiers, and provider information. * Insure claim information is complete and accurate. * Answer patient questions on patient responsible portions, copays, deductibles, write-offs, etc. * Prepare appeal letters to insurance carrier when not in agreement with claim denial. Collect necessary information to accompany appeal. * Prepare patient statements for charges not covered by insurance. * May work with patients to establish payment plan for past due accounts in accordance with provider policies. * Provide necessary information to collection agencies for delinquent or past due accounts. * Post insurance and patient payments using medical claim billing software or Excel spreadsheets. * May perform "soft" collections for patient past due accounts. This may include contacting and notifying patients via phone or mail. * For patients with coverage by more than one insurer, prepare and submit secondary claims upon processing by primary insurer. * Follow HIPAA and accrediting guidelines in handling patient information. * May periodically create insurance or patient aging reports using the medical practice billing software. * Understand managed care authorizations and limits to coverage such as the number of visits. * May verify patient benefits eligibility and coverage. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Proficient in use of computers and common office equipment and demonstrated data entry skills. * Basic understanding and competency in book keeping skills. * Knowledge of case management plans, assessments, and maintaining the files. * Knowledge of insurance billing and reimbursement process. * Basic understanding of billing codes. * Effective telephone and patient relations skills. * Detail oriented and ability to prioritize work. * Knowledge of medical terminology. * Strong understanding and sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native population. * Strong written, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills. * Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants. * Ability to keep accurate records and produce timely and accurate written reports. * Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required for HIPAA, other regulations and organization matters. * Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines. * Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including outside contacts. * Ability to work independently as well as with teams. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma or equivalent * One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant or demonstrated proficiency within an office setting, AND * One (1) year of experience in medical and Medicare/Medicaid billing. * A combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for requirements on a year for year basis. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Associate's degree in business or other field. * Two (2) years of experience as an Administrative Assistant or Billing Specialist or related experience.
