Under the general supervision of the supervising physicians/providers, utilizes nursing processes to plan and provide care for hyperbaric/wound, nursing patients in accordance with physician/provider orders and established policies/procedures. This position will complete the patient's assessment, collect and analyze patient data, and communicate information about patient to physician.

Education

Minimum: Graduate of Registered Nurse Program

Preferred: Bachelor Degree in Nursing

Registration/Certification/Licensure:

Current PA RN license, ACLS, Healthcare Provider CPR, and Act 33/73 clearances

Experience

Minimum: Three years experience in an acute care setting.

Preferred: Critical care experience.

I. Specific Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

1.Provides care to the patients of BHS Wound Center through an interdisciplinary approach by assessing, planning, providing nursing care and evaluating outcomes. Assures necessary communication with physicians, extenders, LPNs, nursing assistants, patients and other members of the healthcare team occurs to assist the patient in meeting their goals.

2.Utilizes critical thinking skills to use the assessment, review of labs, diagnostic tests, medications etc. to identify status of patient, identify changes in patient condition and take appropriate action in a timely manner.

3.Demonstrates error-free documentation that is completed in a timely and thorough manner without using unapproved abbreviations. Complies with patient identification standards prior to initiating any patient intervention.

4.Monitors hyperbaric medicine treatment to all referred patients. Takes and records vital signs, obtains blood sugars by utilizing glucometer, and reports findings outside of normal parameters to supervising physician/provider. Wound care, dressing changes, TCOM testing, suture/staple removal and nursing care under the specialty practice of the providers is provided in accordance with patient's age and care needs.
