On-site Operations Manager
Located On-site at our Customer: Great Northern Corporation (GNC) in Brooklyn Park, MN
The goal of the On-site Operations Manager is to provide exceptional communication and operational solutions to the customer. This will be accomplished by achieving delivery expectations, managing the freight plan and by meeting the established metrics for asset utilization and driver productivity.
This individual will manage on-time delivery performance, individual driver MPG results, driver engagement to promote driver retention, the invoicing process and best practices for an overall high-performing team.
Essential functions of the on-site operations manager are:
Serve as the customers' first point of contact.
Build strong relationships with the driver team through engagement and accountability
Manage and schedule driver team and maintain full staffing of 14 drivers
Proactively work with GNC's shipping team to understand driver capacity requirements.
Solicit drivers from other departments when necessary to cover freight
Improve performance and production through regularly scheduled driver performance reviews. Coach drivers on performance issues to include poor trip planning, service exceptions, company policy violations, and communicating effectively.
Work with GNC's management team to consistently meet customer service expectations
Effectively work with GNC and Paper Transport dispatch systems
Be decisive and provide solutions to the Customer
Monitor/manager trailer pool pars.
Understand how the customer measures PTI and develop processes to meet/exceed the customers' expectations in those areas.
Build relationships within the organization of the customer to build freight volume and trust between PTI and the customer.
Responsible for managing service issues by researching and coding all service failures in the system to support accurate weekly service reporting.
Maintain knowledge of customer contractual agreements relative to trailer pools, accessorial charges, service reporting, etc.
Participate on any service conference calls
Communicate timely and effectively both through XRS Tablet and over the phone with drivers.
Work effectively with safety and maintenance teams to address issues and concerns regarding drivers and equipment.
Driver Disciplinary Action - Verbal, Written Warning and Probation; Follow up Discussions.
Monitor drivers Hours of Service to ensure they are running within FMCSA regs.
