We are currently looking for a CNC Machinist. Under direct supervision, sets up, operates, and adjusts various types of conventional or automatic machines including lathes, drill presses, grinders and other precision equipment. Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts as well as for experimental apparatus or prototype equipment. Work is routine and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances. This position works more than 50% of the time at the customer location. DUTIES:

  • Machines parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders. Sets up, adjusts or operates basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.

  • Measures, examines or tests completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers. Calculates dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or Vernier calipers.

  • Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition. Operates equipment to verify operational efficiency.

  • Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.

  • Checks work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.

  • Programs computers or electronic instruments, such as numerically controlled machine tools. Diagnoses machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs.

  • Lays out, measures and marks metal stock to display placement of cuts. Fits and assembles parts to make or repair machine tools. Sets up or operates metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding or cutting equipment.

  • Installs repaired parts in equipment or install new equipment.

  • Designs fixtures, tooling or experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.

  • Supports metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics. Prepare working sketches for the illustration of product appearance.

  • Tests experimental models under simulated operating conditions for purposes such as development, standardization or feasibility of design. Install experimental parts or assemblies, such as hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants or batteries into machines or mechanisms.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Requires knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes

  • Knowledge of machinist, CAD and/or CAM software

  • Knowledge of mathematics and its application

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

  • Knowledge of monitoring gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school education or GED required.

Under general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Analytics Software Engineer is involved in the entire process from gathering requirements, system design, heads down coding, all the way through to supporting QA and user acceptance testing efforts. The Analytics team works on a wide variety of projects from Angular web interfaces to customer facing REST API's to Hadoop queries. A large portion of our software runs in the cloud on the Azure platform, so you will be using the latest in cloud DevOps processes. For a full stack developer, this is an excellent opportunity to stay broad and keep up to date.
