Reading Response to Intervention Teacher (Grades K-12)

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the regional administrator the primary responsibility of the Reading Response to Intervention (RTI) Teacher is providing targeted support to students struggling with reading skills in a virtual setting. Employing evidence-based literacy intervention strategies, the Reading RTI Teacher aims to enhance students' reading proficiency, comprehension, and overall literacy development. In carrying out their responsibilities, teachers shall follow Baker Charter School's policy, standard practices, and administrative unit regulations. Teacher shall establish a professional growth plan and annually review progress.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

1.Individualized Intervention: Develop and implement customized intervention plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of struggling readers. Provide virtual one-on-one or small group instruction, utilizing evidence-based reading interventions and instructional materials.

2.Virtual Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and effective virtual reading instruction using appropriate teaching methods, digital tools, and resources. Adapt instruction to accommodate students' learning styles, preferences, and skill levels.

3.Assessment and Identification: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' specific reading difficulties and determine appropriate intervention strategies. Utilize data-driven analysis to identify areas of need and monitor progress over time.

4.Progress Monitoring: Continuously monitor students' progress and adjust intervention strategies as needed based on ongoing assessment data. Document and track student growth and achievement to inform instructional decisions and support student success.

5.Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with Advisory Teachers, Special Education staff, Reading RTI Team Chair, parents, and other stakeholders to coordinate intervention efforts and support students' literacy development. Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress, goals, and recommended strategies.

6.Professional Development: Stay abreast of research, best practices and trends in literacy instruction and RTI. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to virtual teaching, literacy intervention, and supporting struggling readers.

Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the regional administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy machine, and telephone.

Travel Requirements
Frequent travel to students' homes and the teacher's local student center is required. Occasional travel across the state for all-staff meetings is required.

Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of multiple curriculums and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and co-workers.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
The teacher works primarily from their home office. The work environment is often controlled and quiet, but may include moderate to loud noise. The work environment may include exposure to unpleasant interior temperatures, dirt, communicable diseases, and distraught or difficult individuals. The work requires regular focus on a computer screen and precise control of fingers and hand movements. Bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 20 pounds may also be required on occasion.

Qualifications Profile
1.Must possess an active Oregon teaching license with a Reading endorsement
3.Must possess a valid driver's license, running vehicle, and appropriate automobile insurance
4.Must possess job-related experience providing the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability to perform the job.
5.Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignments.
Masters Degree preferred.

Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
