Working Title Online Associate Degree Nursing Instructor Position Status Full Time Department School of Health Sciences General Summary

Instruct all classes assigned in support of the Associate Degree Nursing Program in its endeavor to serve students and the Mission of Odessa College. The full-time Faculty position will be for the 2024-2025 academic year, there will be no extension of the full-time online position beyond the completion of the 2024-2025 Faculty contract.

Specific Position Duties

Teach a variety of courses of the Associate Degree Nursing program. Adhere to the requirements, standards and guidelines set forth by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas; National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission; and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field by reading current literature, participating in continuing education and professional development, and attending conferences, etc.; Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various course and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college; Utilizes appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners; Provides students with written expectations that are congruent with the Odessa College and Associate Degree nursing vision and policies, e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc.; Develops and administers tests which are appropriate to course content, current to best practices in nursing, and appropriate in rigor, including a comprehensive final exam measuring overall grasp of course objectives; By various ways and means of instructing students, affirms the worth and dignity of all persons and the right of all persons to learn; Evaluates and grades student class, laboratory and clinical work, assignments and papers in a timely manner, also in a manner that is constructive to the students' learning; Plan, coordinate and supervise students in all laboratory and clinical experiences; Maintain student attendance records, grades and other required course specific details; Maintains an appropriate web or distance learning which encourages the free exchange of ideas while defending academic honesty and objectivity; Prepares adequately reports promptly at virtual meetings and any other scheduled instructional activities; Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner; Addresses student concerns, i.e., comments, questions, and input, in a timely manner and other suitable means; Effectively handles routine procedures necessary for the successful, day-to-day operation of the department as delegated by the department chair; Submits required reports and schedules in a timely manner to the department chair; Maintains effective relationships and collaborates with professional counterparts throughout the college; Maintains individual student advisement on degree plans and degree applications in order to comply with completion requirements; Plans, evaluates and revises the curriculum, course content, course materials and methods of instruction in conjunction with other faculty, coordinator and department chair; Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for department programs; Advise students on academic and vocational curricula and on current issues; Maintains regularly availability hours in order to advise, mentor and assist students; selected candidate is required an on-campus Fall and Spring semester work day visit per contract.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in nursing or a master's degree in another field with a bachelor's degree in nursing with 6 hours of graduate level nursing courses from a regionally accredited institution; current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas. Compact License allowed.
