ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

Online adjunct instructors are part-time faculty hired to teach a specified course, or courses, on a subterm basis. Successful completion of Lackawanna College's Online Instructor Training is a requirement to teach online. Completion of the training alone does not guarantee a teaching placement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Teach the online course using a pre-built eLearning Content Developer (eCD) master course.

  • Supplement existing eCD course material with audio/visual content and engage with students as required in the course discussion questions.

  • Adhere to all elements of the FALCONS online teaching model.

  • Provide numerical and written feedback to student submissions in a timely manner.

  • Respond to student and administrative emails within 24 hours.

  • Provide support and guidance to students to optimize learning outcomes.

  • Utilize the Starfish platform to communicate student issues with relevant campus offices.

  • Complete and maintain all required documentation and records, including, but not limited to: grades, requisitions, syllabi, and rosters.

  • Complete, report and maintain grades in a timely manner.

  • Foster a professional online classroom environment conducive to learning.

  • All other duties as required by eLearning.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree, including a minimum of 18 credits in Philosophy.

  • Master's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated prior teaching experience preferred.
