Sheltering Arms has a need for a One-to-One Paraprofessional. It is a TEMPORARY Full Time role at the Therapeutic Nursery in Harlem. Under the supervision of the Director, the one-to-one para provides quality care and a nurturing environment for a special needs child. The One-to-One Para will work one-on-one with a child with special needs for as long as the child is in the program. Salary is $12.00 per hour.
Assists in the planning and execution of a program geared towards providing a special needs student with a supportive and nurturing environment
Provides emotional support for the child in the classroom during interaction with staff and peers
Assists in the execution of the Individual Education Program
Acts as a companion for the child while on group trips or while engaged in activity
Writes daily educational session notes and submits in a timely manner
With supervisory help, prepares a child Study Summary Report for the Interdisciplinary team
Assists with the classroom maintenance(e.g. Ensures that equipment/ materials are in good condition and the classroom is neat and clean)
Assists with daily living activities
Other related tasks that may be assigned
High school diploma required, Some college preferred
1+ year of experience working with children
