Outpatient medical oncology is a busy department with patients being seen in clinic by a provider, either a Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner. In addition we provide infusion services which may include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, or other IV therapies. Our clinic staff is made up of Nationally Certified Oncology RN's, Oncology Nurse Navigators, LPN's and secretarial staff to take care of patient needs.
What You Will Do:
The Collaborative Care Nurse (CCN) is a vital member of the Medical Oncology team at the UW Health at ProHealth Care Cancer Center locations. Medical Oncology is a complex area. Clinical Nurses work with the providers in both the clinic and infusion and all 3 locations (PWK, OMH, and DNG). Supporting patients throughout their cancer journey is one of the things that make us stand out from our competition. This individual is responsible for:
CCN's receive messages on patients and call back same day
Phone calls will include triage, symptom management, prognosis, medication/scan related questions
CCN's are also responsible for:
Seeing patients scheduled with physician/advanced practice providers daily
Providing education
IV and oral chemotherapy, surgeries, new medications
Providing intervention and evaluation of patient needs
Collaborating with other team members to develop care plan for patients to achieve optimal outcomes
Follow up with patients on lab and scan results
Anti-coagulation follow up
Coordination of chemo admissions to hospital
Coordinating combined chemotherapy/radiation regimens with radiation treatment
Nurses call patients back between clinic patients and other high priority needs of patients on a daily basis.
What You Will Need:
Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred
Wisconsin Registered Nurse License
Valid American Heart (AHA) Basic Life Support ( BLS) certification.
