Job Description:
Under direct supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, provides nursing care to individuals and groups requiring the application of basic knowledge of the biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences. May be required to float throughout LMHS and perform other duties as requested.
Responsibilities:
Perform duties independently; setting priorities and schedules with minimal management direction
Screen new cancer patients to identify potential eligibility for clinical trials
Function as a resource for clinical trial protocols to all LMH staff, management and clinical trial participants
Register patients on protocol for clinical trial protocols with NCORP as appropriate for LMHS physicians and other area physicians that are associated with NCORP.
Notify physicians of laboratory and imaging results, cardiac testing and other test results and ensure protocol patients are scheduled for appropriate follow up testing and appointments previous to and throughout protocol enrollment
Provide patient and family education of proposed clinical trials and ensure informed consent and HIPPA documentation is obtained prior to treatment
Review and assess patient treatment data for adherence to eligibility, dosing and toxicity requirements
Review physician orders for accuracy and adherence to protocol
Collect and submit clinical trial pathology and lab specimens according to protocol specifications
Utilize the nursing process to provide trial participant assessment and care while adhering to protocol standards
View and assess Expectation Report and complete necessary follow up
Prepare adverse events reports utilizing the CTEP Adverse Event Reporting System utilizing appropriate grades in the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE)
Write, review, and submit SAE reports, hospitalization reports, and deviation reports within required timelines
Submit required regulatory documentation for IRB review within required timeframes
Assist co- workers as needed
Assist cancer registrar as needed
Coordinate Tumor Board, collaborating with oncology, radiation oncology, pathology and radiology
Prepare attendance list, roster, outcome measures and evaluation reports for Tumor Board
Routinely review Tumor Board compliance with Comprehensive Cancer Care Committee standards
Transport chart information to NCORP for LMH patients
Pick up medications at NCORP office as appropriate
DARF accountability for investigational agents
Review scans per protocol utilizing RECIST criteria to determine if patients remain on protocol
Attend staff meetings
Attend NCORP Nurses' and advisory committee meetings
Report dashboard data
Serve on Comprehensive Cancer Care Committee - track and composite necessary data
Complete audits to ensure protocol compliance; maintaining a high level of audit preparedness in all areas
Other duties as requires
Requirements:
Current R.N. licensure for Ohio and maintain.
Acquire CMEs to maintain knowledge of new equipment, treatments and procedures.
Current CPR card and maintain.
Proficient in use of EPIC
Document/communicate pertinent information regarding patient condition.
Operate CRT, fax, copier, Valco scanner and other office-related equipment.
OCN preferred but required 18 months of hire
SOCRA certification within two years of hire
