Overview
JOB SUMMARY
Functions as an expert clinician in oncology health care with a focus on Breast cancer and Palliative care services. The Breast cancer navigator assist patient through the continuum of cancer care from the time of diagnoses to survivorship.
Functions as a clinical expert, consultant, educator and leader to plan patient care and ensure optimal patient care outcomes. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the mission of the department and organization. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process.
Breast Cancer Navigator Role: Collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary team to:
Establish relationship with newly diagnosed patients and guides them through their disease process
Offers education and supportive services
Anticipate and respond to changes in patient health status and patient/family perceptions of care
Utilize and evaluate professional and regulatory practice standards in patient care delivery
Identify patient, family and clinical staff learning needs
Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and program development to meet those needs
Palliative Care Component: Collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary team to promote, support and assist the palliative care team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field required. See Licenses and Certification.
Experience: Three years acute care experience; clinical oncology experience preferred. Previous experience identifying staff education needs and demonstrated success with developing and executing staff education programs preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment, and manage/prioritize/delegate patient care and complete work assignments and other duties, as assigned. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills. Demonstrates flexibility and is self directed. Demonstrates knowledge of advanced nursing theory and clinical proficiency specific to age of population served.
License/Certifications: Current nursing license, state of California, American Heart Association (AHA) BLS, Oncology certification or Certified Breast Care Nurse certification (CBCN) required, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.
PAY RANGE
$49.10 - $73.64
The posted pay range reflects the lowest to highest pay that was available for this position at the time of posting and may be subject to change. Salary offers are determined by candidate's relevant experience and skills. For per diem positions, a standard rate is used based on market data and not the candidate's individual experience.
