? Knowledge of the professional medical practice and care to give and evaluate patient care.

? Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

? Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care. Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition, and interpreting findings.

? Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, Physicians, and the public.

? Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

? Ability to interpret, adapt, apply guidelines and procedures.

? Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.

The position of a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner is to assist the physicians with the care of the Physicians' patients and fulfill the need as Physician Extenders performing selective medical services under the supervision of the

Physicians. A strong desire to build a collaborative working relationship to provide the highest

quality patient care and clinical outcomes will be an essential element for the successful

candidate. An ongoing commitment to excellence is desired and expected on an ongoing basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

? A typical workday begins and ends helping physicians to see patients. PAs will see patients individually with Physician supervision.

? Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients. Reviews patient records, interpreting and integrating data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.

? Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis.

? Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.

? Orders appropriate medications (including but limited to chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, IV medication, IM/SQ medication, supportive care medication) based on the patients' treatment/therapy plan as prescribed by the Physician.

? Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.

? Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention; instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education.

? Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.

? Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.

? Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.

? Provides call coverage with Physician.

? Rounds on patients at Great Plains Health.

? Maintains strictest confidentiality.

? Performs related work as required.

VIEW JOBS 12/1/2020 9:50:12 PM 2021-03-01T21:50 <p>Our Internal medicine physician and Advanced Practice Providers oversee patient care in the clinical setting, in local nursing homes and provide coverage of Palliative Care in the inpatient setting. As a practice, they work closely with our Care Coordination Team on meeting patient’s care needs. In addition, providers are able to assist patients with needs such as DOT and FAA physicals as well as Annual Wellness Visits and Advanced Care Planning. Our providers apply clinical expertise to the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness. They are especially well trained in the diagnosis of puzzling medical problems, in the ongoing care of chronic illnesses, and in caring for patients with more than one disease. <br /> Expectations – Participate in a call coverage plan, scheduling in conjunction with other providers to cover night and weekend calls for patients and nursing home facilities. Ten days of the call, including one weekend per month is expected. How long is the wait for an appointment – 10 days wait time for new patients or follow up visits with the physician. The typical wait time for clinic visits with APP staff is 2-3 days for new patients and the same day for follow-up and acute visit needs. Equipment needs – The clinic has access to point of care testing for urine, blood glucose, INR. In addition, in-clinic EKG and bladder scan equipment on hand. Internal Medicine Services Primary Care Focus Diabetes Management Management of patients on thrombolytics DOT and FAA physicals Medicare Annual Wellness Visits Advanced Care Planning Management of complex medical issues Care of chronic illnesses Requirements: Promotes and maintains health and healing by providing medical services related to diagnosis, treatment and education to patients and families in collaboration with physicians and other members of the health care team according to established standards and practices but not limited to evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. <br /> <br /> <strong>Requirement:</strong><br /> (2) Years Experience in Geriatrics, Palliative Care or equivalent Education Successful completion of an approved advanced practice registered nurse program; must have a masters degree, post-master;s certificate, or doctoral degree; Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or by a compact state under the Nurse Licensure Compact Act; current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the State of Nebraska. Prescriptive authority in Nebraska and DEA Certification. One year experience in hospital or clinic setting preferred. Credentials Prior to appointment to the Medical Staff, primary source verification is obtained, at a minimum, from the applicant's relevant education/training, past and present affiliations, peer references, licensures, certifications, and past and present medical liability insurance. Items that expire, such as licenses, certificates, boards, and insurance, are monitored on an ongoing basis.
