General Summary

Responsible for providing safe, quality, cost effective care for patients requiring intravenous therapy in the home or onsite setting.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Use the nursing process to plan and provide patient/family care. This includes assessing and evaluating needs and implementing effective care plans which are kept up to date, evaluated and documented..

  • Coordinate patient care activities and maintain communication with other disciplines including nursing agency, pharmacist and physician.

  • Teach the patient/family about the patient's care needs and disease prevention.

  • Follow appropriate infection control measures.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of one-year experience in handling and administering "hazardous" medications (i.e. chemotherapies)

  • Minimum of one-year home health experience preferred

  • Registered Nurse, currently licensed by the state of Maryland

  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider certification preferred

  • Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) credential preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Valid Maryland driver's license, auto insurance and reliable vehicle.
  • EXPERIENCED IN THE CARE OF PERIPHERAL AND CENTRAL LINES
  • ABILITY TO TROUBLESHOOT POTENTIAL PROBLEMS THAT MAY ARISE IN DEALING WITH IV THERAPY
